Friday's Friend! Dog Adoption, Operation Paws for Homes

WOOF! My pawsome friend "Miss Lisa" from Operation Paws for Homes came by this week with a barkingly grand dog named Colton.  He is 2-years-old and a Shepherd mix.

Colton is friendly with all humans and other dogs that he has met. He doesn't jump up when meeting new humans!

Colton is house and crate trained.  He does well in his crate during the workday.

BARKS! Colton does need some work on a leash but should learn quickly! He has a laid disposition with a moderate activity level and will make a great dog for a lucky family!

BARK! A note from Operation Paws for Homes! Colton has tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. Operation Paws for Homes will treat the dog and provide two weeks’ recovery time prior to adoption. If everything goes as planned, he will be able to go home with potential adopters on June 28.

Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from Operation Paws for Homes Heartworm Coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable. Read about Heartworm disease here: Heartworm Society, Pet Owner Resources- Heartworm Basics
