Our Sympathies to the Fairfax County Police Department

Dog
"Doby"
(C) Fairfax County Police Department

WOOF! MEOWS! Today, Samson and I mourn the loss of a pawsome, loyal and beloved K9 Officer with the Fairfax County Police Department, Fairfax, VA. According to Fairfax County Police Chief Edwin C. Roessler, Jr. on Friday, February 22, 2019.  Barkingly, he was only 2-years-old.

Paws, Roessler states, "Doby was part of a patrol canine team which responded to assist on a call for an armed robbery in the Arlington Drive area of Alexandria in the Mount Vernon District. During the incident, Doby collapsed and stopped breathing."

His handler administered canine CPR and rushed Doby to the Regional Veterinary Referral Center in Springfield, but Doby did not survive.

Police say there will be a necropsy to determine Doby’s cause of death.

Doby was born in Hungary and had been a member of the Fairfax County Police Department since March 2018 and actively working cases since August 2018.

Fairfax County Police Department holds a special place in my heart. I got out of my yard one day -you know how it is when sniffing a scent and their kind officer took me home!

Our paws, licks, and hugs to the Officers of the Fairfax County Police Department in their time of loss and mourning.
