WOOFS! Happy Friday my friends! I have had the pawsome pawleasure of meeting a beautiful girl this week from PetConnect Rescue, named Gertie! She is around 7-years-old and a mini-Chocolate Labrador Retriever mix! She is looking for a "Forever Home!" with humans to love who will love her too!

Barkingly, she loves greeting new humans with a wagging tail and kisses! She enjoys curling up on the couch with her human for belly rubs!

(C) 2021, from The Dog's Paw!
Gertie, woofs, is working on her leash skills and manners! She pulls a bit and is a little settled in her ways but she is working with her foster human!

Barkingly, she has had no accidents in the house yet too!

Gertie loves playing tug-of-war with her fosters 2-year-old dog and gets along with the 1-year-old cat!

Paws, at age 7, Gertie is quite mellow but she does enjoy playing and taking walks. She is very curious on her walks. She wags her tail when passing another dog but hasn't barked at one yet.

Woofs! Barkingly, my friends from Operation Paws for Homes brought by two dogs for you to meet! They are looking for their "Forever Home!" with humans to love who will love them. Meet Mama Mia!

Mama Mia, or Mia, is a VERY ACTIVE girl with a pawsomely grand personality overflowing with devotion. She will make a great running or hiking buddy! Paws, she's like the Energizer Bunny that never runs out of energy!

Paws, Mama Mia is around 2-years-old and pawssibly a Terrier and Pit Bull Terrier mix. She is not suitable in an apartment, condo, or other urban setting. With her energy-level, she will do best in a home without small mini-humans.

(C) 2021, from The Dog's Paw!
Barks, Mia is very smart, trainable, and treat-motivated! She has mastered basic obedience commands and knows to ring the bells on the foster's doors when she wants to go out! She knows how to use a doggy door and is pawsomely respectful of the fence and baby gates. She is doing pawsome with leash manners. Woofs! She would love the challenge of agility or more training.

Ruff! Ruff! Mia loves chew toys, rope toys, playing fetch or tug, or with anything that squeaks! She is happy to snuggle with you on the couch too!

She is house- and crate-trained.

Mia does get barkingly excited when meeting new humans. She loves to share doggy-kisses!

Barkingly, Mia will need pawlenty of exercises! She cannot go to a home with cats as she enjoys chasing small animals.

Mama Mia is up-to-date on her vaccinations and has been spayed.

Meet my friend Alcor!

Alcor, or Al, is a Southern guy from the pawsome state of Tennessee! He is pawssibly around 3-years-old and a Pointer Mix! He is looking for his "Forever Home!" with humans to love who will love him too!

Barks, he loves Nylabones and balls of all sorts! He's a chewer so stuffed animals and soft toys do not last very long! I enjoy it when my foster human throws the ball for me though I don't always bring it back! He enjoys snuggling, and going on adventures like hiking! He needs a fenced yard where he can play ball and sunbathe!

Woofs, Alcor is hesitant in meeting new humans so a slow introduction, time, and patience are a must! Once I warm up, he will allow you to rub his belly or will lay his head in your lap.

Alcor is good with other dogs but can be picky with his doggie friends! He has a prey drive with small animals so he cannot have a cat in his new home!

Woofs! Alcor is house- and crate-trained.

Barkingly, he will do best in a home with mini-humans ages 12 and older!

Alcor is up-to-date on his vaccinations and is neutered.

WOOFS! to learn more about adopting a dog from Operation Paws for Home, pawlease visit their Adoption Guide!

If you would like to meet Alcor, or pawssibly adopt, pawlease complete the Operation Paws for Homes Dog Adoption Application

Purchase A Dog License!

Photo by Maja Dumat, Flickr Creative Commons
"The Dog License!"
(C) 2011, Maja Dumat, Flickr Creative Commons

WOOF! Every year I go through this and, once again, I think this is a bit discriminating! Why do I have to have a license to be a dog when cats do not have to have a license to be a cat? Barkingly, I would not never ever want to be a cat so don't get me wrong but cats should have to get licensed too.

This time of year, when you are renewing your dog's license to be a dog, take a few minutes to make sure you have kept his ID tags and microchip updated with your contact information. Has your address, email, or any phone numbers changed? Barks? If they have, this is a pawsome time to update your pet's ID tags and microchip.

Barkingly, where I live, my human has to register me with the county. I have to wear a tag on my collar to show it's been done. While I find it pawsomely annoying, as I pawed a few sentences ago, it is an impawtant thing to do. Why?

Paw, first, in most states, it is the law to license your dog. The fee to license your dog is cheaper than the fines which can be up to $250. Barkingly, in some cities and counties, it is a class IV misdemeanor.

Woofs, a license tag helps Animal Control, and even your neighbors, to help identify your dog quickly and return to you. Licensed dogs are often kept longer at shelters waiting for their humans to come get them than dogs that are not!

Barkingly, a dog license helps to prove your dog is safe! Dogs cannot be licensed without being vaccinated, paws rabies. A human finding your dog is more likely to help it find its way home, or get it some help if it is licensed.

The fees for licensing your pet assists with the expenses of running an Animal Shelter.

WOOFS! In many locations, January is often the month to submit your payment and request for a license to allow your dog to be a dog for another year. Trust me, your dog will appreciate being a dog for another year- who wants to be a cat anyway!?

Friday's Friend! Dog Adoption, Lab Rescue

WOOF! BARKS! Paws, I hope you had a pawsome Christmas and a very Happy New Year, and Happy Holidays! WOOFS! My humans and I had a great time together. It was nice and quiet and delicious!

Starting off the New Year with my friend "Lab Lady" from Lab Rescue who brought by a beautiful Black Labrador Retriever for you to meet! Ellie!

Ellie is around 2-years-old. She is looking for her "Forever Home!" in a rural or very quiet suburban, no busy walking routes, single-family home with a physical fence. With her young age, she will have a training addendum attached to her adoption.  She prefers a FEMALE-ONLY home too.

Barks, Ellie prefers female company. She loves meeting new women but she gets worried and actively tries to avoid any strange men.

Woofing, Ellie needs a calm, quiet home, and neighborhood to help her feel safe. She doesn't want any busy suburban area.

When Ellie is with her female friends, she is a silly wiggly girl who just wants to be loved! She will fill your life with love and happiness. She loves being told she is is a good girl!

Ellie enjoys taking a few minutes to smell all the smells of the universe and rolling in the grass. She loves long walks, playing with her toys, swimming, bones, long-lasting chews, and would make a good running partner!

Paws, and she's one smart girl too! She enjoys her training sessions and picks things up quickly. She will need a structured routine where she will receive daily training. Is house- and crate-trained.

Pawlease enjoy two of Ellie's videos, Crawling Walk and Ellie Sits Pawfectly!

Barkingly, Ellie is approved for a household with older kids (15 and up). No cats. She is good with dogs, but she can be a rough player!

Happy Friday! MEOWS! I hope you have some pawsome pawlans for the weekend! We will pawbably be lazy tomorrow but will definitely on Sunday! We all take naps or read or watch some TV after church that morning, and I love it! My humans will curl up with me or Noah too. Noah gets extra-long walks. It's great as I get extra quiet time without him around! My humans often say, having me and Noah makes their lives so much more fun. Maybe you should consider adopting a cat! MEOWS!!

(C) 2021, from The Dog's Paw!Paws, this week, I caught up with my pawsomely grand friend "Cat Lady" from PetConnect Rescue! She has a cat for you to meet, Connie, that I just hope she's not exactly like my Aunt Connie! If so, you'll have your hands full of craziness, which can be, at times, quite a bit of pawsome fun. After meowing with her for a few minutes, I learned she is quite the pawsome kitty. Unlike my aunt, who never stops talking, she is a bit shy.

Sweet, beautiful Connie is a 7-month-old kitty with a pawfully beautiful shiny black coat! Purrs! As I pawed, she is a bit shy, so she is looking for her "Forever Home!" to be in a quiet one without young mini-humans. The adopter will need to be patient with her as she settles in. Pawingly, she will likely hide the first few weeks until she is comfortable! Meows, even after that, she will seek you out for attention in her own time! Once she gets there, she will purr and come to you for her favorite thing- food! Paws, sounds just like me! My humans allowed me to do that, and now we are the bestest of buddies- except when Dad sings!

Meows, another than the shy thing, which isn't bad because I am shy and took time to get comfy in my new home, Connie is a very good girl. She has great litterbox manners, is FIV/FeLV negative, and is up-to-date on vaccines.

To learn more about adopting a cat from PetConnect Rescue, pawlease visit their Adoption Guide

If you would like to meet Connie, the cat that is, or apply to pawssibly adopt her, pawlease the PetConnect Rescue Cat Adoption Application

I know some humans are not able to adopt, for many different reasons. Pawlease consider supporting Connie financially. Donations will assist with her care. Any extra funds will be used to assist other cats at PetConnect Rescue. Interested, pawlease donate HERE! Donations are tax-deductible!
