The windowsill in her foster's home is her favorite spot to hear the birds and keep her eyes on the outside world! Or pawssibly take a nap- that'd be my favorite spot too! Purrs.

WOOF! Happy Friday, my fine friends! My friends from Operation Paws for Homes have been busy caring for dogs needing "Forever Homes!" This week, they share a dog named Kokomo, an 8-year-old Boxer mix who wants her own humans to love who will love her and she can love too! Paws, don't let her age fool you though- she still has lots of energy and loves going on walks and playing!

Kokoma is totally housebroken! She doesn't chew on anything but her toys! She enjoys belly rubs and cuddling!

Barkingly, she knows some basic commands, "sit," "no," and "lay down!" She is very smart and could probably learn even more commands.

Kokomo enjoys car rides and doesn't get car sick.

Kokomo gets along with other dogs when she's is properly introduced. Barkingly, sometimes she takes a little bit of time to feel comfortable around other dogs. She is being fostered in Washington D.C. and does very well walking with humans and their dogs.

Kokomo is looking for a quiet home without small mini-humans.

Paws, to learn about adopting a dog from Operation Paws for Homes, pawlease visit their Adoption Guide!

Woofs, if you would like to meet Kokomo, or apply to pawssibly adopt her, pawlease complete the Operation Paws for Homes Adoption Application!

WOOF! Barks! Happy Friday my friends! I hope you have some pawsome pawlans for the weekend. Do you have a dog to take with you? WOOFS! Dogs always making outings and adventure more fun! My friend "Lab Lady" from Lab Rescue brought by a handsome fella name Benny for you to consider adopting.

Barkingly, pawsome Benny is looking for his "Forever Home!" in a rural or suburban single-family house or townhouse with minimal stairs. He has no fence requirement! Woofs, due to his age-related arthritis, is looking for a home with minimal stairs. He can handle a few steps going inside and out. He loves trotting around the yard and short walks.

Benny is one easy-going, handsome, approximately 12-year-old Black Labrador Retriever, who is really fun to have around! He has some spunk and enjoyed a weekend of a campfire, sunbathing, catching a catfish, and some yummy pup ice cream.

Benny makes a pawsome house guest. He sleeps through the night and naps during the day. He loves it when his humans come home! When they leave, he has free roam of his foster's home, no crate needed. He does love the couch and will want to join you whenever he can!

Barks, Benny loves his walks and is great on a leash. He enjoys walking his foster's mini-humans to the school bus.

Woofingly, Benny has created his own video collection to show off his pawsomely grand-self -

Benny is good with other dogs, hasn't met or seen any cats yet, and is recommended for mini-humans age 10 and older!

Meows, Cleo is around 14-years-old. Pawingly, she got a bit of a rough start in life as she was found in a bag with other kittens on the side of the road. She and another kitten were still alive when a rescuer found them. They gave her a loving home for nearly fourteen years! Paws, hiss, a change in her human family circumstances caused her to lose her home.

Purrs, Cleo can be a little shy at first. She loves being petting and will make a pawnderfully grand kitty for some lucky human.

Cleo will do best in a quiet home!

Meows, paws, she has had a complete Veterinary examination, including FeLV/FIV test and a senior panel! Purringly, she was found to be very healthy. Paws, she is current on vaccinations.

Congratulations to the Homeless Animals Rescue Team (HART) for Receiving Miranda Lambert's MuttNation Award!

(C) 2021, Miranda Lambert MuttNation
(C)  2021, Miranda Lambert MuttNation

WOOF! WOOF! This is Abby! Barkingly, I am pawsomely pawleased to share with you about my rescue, Homeless Animals Rescue Team (HART)!

The Homeless Animals Rescue Team (HART) was selected by Miranda Lambert's MuttNation Foundation as the only Virginia animal welfare organization to receive a surprise $5,000 grant! Barks, though I am not surprised because they did a pawsome job taking care of me, my sister, and our mom and helping me find my new "Forever Home!"  Woofs, HART was surprised because there was no application. They were selected based on specific criteria.

The MuttNation Foundation based their selections on:

  • High Adoption Rate
  • High Volunteerism
  • Fiscal Responsibility
  • High Activity/Fundraising
  • Specialty
  • Community Presence
  • Website & Social Media Presence
  • Advocacy

Paws, Miranda Lambert’s MuttNation Foundation and Tractor Supply Company teamed up to provide a quarter-million dollars in grants through MuttNation’s Mutts Across America program by donating $5,000 to one animal shelter or foster-based animal rescue group in each state across the country. On March 11, 2021, HART was selected as the winner in Virginia!

Woofs, Homeless Animals Rescue Team (HART) is a local non-profit animal rescue group based in Northern Virginia that has been saving the lives of dogs and cats for 30 years! They are thrilled to receive this high honor!

HART rescues animals from high-kill shelters across several states and also partners with groups overseas to bring animals to safety in the U.S. They assist the community, whenever possible, by rehoming pets when people can no longer keep their pets due to illness, death, deployment, and hardships. Our passionate group of volunteers, along with the financial support of followers, enables HART to save approximately 1,000 animals each year. HART is always seeking new volunteers and fosters! Congratulations
Homeless Animals Rescue Team,
HART!

Noah's Houndisms! Put Down Your Phone and Enjoy Walking Your Dog!

Photo by Jonas Lee on Unsplash
"Cell Phone on Table"

"Woofs! Walking my human is one of my mostest favorite moments of my day. We gather our stuff, my walking leash, a few treats, and the ever-always-important poop bags! Dad grabs his cell phone, for emergencies, and we head out!

I love our walks! It's our time! Just me and Dad! Samson- my cat brother isn't around, though great as he is, there are no televisions, computers or other electronic devices, telephones, or email, or whatever else can distract my human's attention from me! He takes his cell phone on our walk, paws, I make him put his cell phone in his pocket- it's our time! No one else's! Nothing else! WOOFs, but for us! I love it! I know my human does too as he's always saying how much he loves our walks! Barks! It's great bonding time for us too! Woofs!

WOOF! Barkingly, we have noticed more and more lately on our walks, many humans have their noses buried in their cell phones or are chatting with someone on a call. Woofsly, their dog is usually not going to be under the control of the human. Woofs, on more than a few occasions the dog will pull their human over to meet me or start barking and out of control-type manner which does initiate responses from dogs like me walking our humans. Arfs, it's very unsafe for the dog too. Since their human is too busy on their cell phone they aren't paying enough attention to their dog to keep it out of trouble- like eating "gifts" left by other dogs, eating trash or food thrown along the path, barking and jumping up on humans or other dogs, jumping in front of bicyclist along the path, and the list could go on and on! Barks, by paying attention during a dog walk, the human can usually prevent most problems before they happen.

Humans! Put away your cell phone for the time it takes to walk your dog and enjoy the moment!

(C) 2021, from The Dog's Paw!

"WOOFS!"

"Meows! Noah! I thought we were going to write about our cat and dog friends from local rescues needing "Forever Homes!" with humans to love them and they will love too?!"

"WOOF! Yup Samson, that was the plan. But, into every life, change happens, things come up. Paws, no worries though. Our humans are doing well, they just had something come up which means we are not allowed to be on the computer."

"Purrs, oh ok! We plan to return next week, right?"

"Pawfect my pawsome furball buddy!"
