Woofs and Meows! Happy third day of Autumn, or maybe it's just the second since it began at 9:03 p.m. on Thursday night. Ruff! We were busy celebrating "Remember Me" with the Helen Woodward Animal Center that we couldn't post anything about the new fall season coming in.
Meows, the calendar first day of each season is fascinating to me! Paws, the Autumnal Equinox means the Sun will directly align above the Earth's equator. The sunlight hours will become equal to the nighttime hours. Paws, the word equinox itself means "time of equal day and night."
Woofs, Dad doesn't like this time of year, not only because of the colder temperatures, but the days are getting shorter until the "Winter Solstice" in December. At that point, the day will be the shortest day and the night will be the longest of the year. Barkingly, but the next day, the daylight begins getting longer!
Fall brings on all kinds of fun outdoor activities, football games, tailgate pawties, picnics, bike rides, drives in the countryside seeing the beautiful fall foliage, it's the pawfect time for stargazing, hayrides, corn mazes, and the list could go on and on. I think Dad is pawlanning to take us on a ride along Skyline Drive, Shenandoah National Park.
Happy Autumn! May you have a blessed season!
