Happy Friday! What a long week it has been for us. I didn't think the weekend would ever get here. Now that it is, I'm barkingly looking forward to taking a long walk with my human, curling up with a good book or two, and just being lazy! You don't know what you are missing if you don't have a dog to hang out with!<div><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img alt="(C) 2023, from The Dog's Paw!" border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioYZhoqsVTzwJ2RVRsaba9km5K7yuCxVjY1xSd55NdNILyAFMxOgxx4uHgCzYgsWyZ3iXFBQkEqPjaHuoy9bpoG44_-ojyp1Mu1C4WWQwZtV45vOlE5m0kL0iMVbCg11dt15V77hwkyFCes32AqDkmTOLq_bwWTUmI2FCjKDVFD5o9Lvp0ELLSzd96Djf6/w400-h400/from%20The%20Dogs%20Paw%20-%20FF%20(2).png" title="(C) 2023, from The Dog's Paw!" width="400" /></div>I have had the most pawsome pawleasure to catch up with my friend "Miss Sherry" from the <a href="https://www.humanesocietynv.org/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Humane Society of Northern Virginia</a> this past week. She and her team of volunteers have been incredibly busy rescuing dogs and cats. She brought by two dogs, Kiko and Sanyu, for you to consider adopting. They are looking for their "Forever Home!" with humans to love who will love them too! Paws, though they will be pawsitively happy to be adopted together, they can be adopted separately too.</div><div><br /></div><div>Paws, I find this bit of information interesting: Kiko's name means hope. Sanyu's name means happiness.</div><div><br /></div><div>Woofs, Kiko and Sanyu are two five-month-old foxhound mix puppies rescued from a shelter in the south. </div><div><br /></div><div>Barkingly, as adorably cute as they are, they have had zero interest. It could be the increase in rehome requests or the fact that shelters and rescues have become overcrowded. Paws, it'd be home to believe that no one would be interested in these two pawsomely beautiful dogs. </div><div><br /></div><div>Kiko and Sanyu are playful so they will need an active family or companion who will continue their training and socialization. A home with a big yard would make them pawsitively happy. </div><div><br /></div><div>The pups are great with other dogs. Since they are young, and everything is so new to them, they are still figuring out boundaries. Training will assist with that - same with all puppies!</div><div> <br /></div><div>Barkingly, we girl dogs don't like talking about weight, paws, Kiko and Sanyu may end up weighing around forty-five pounds or more! Paws, that's forty-five pounds of lovin's and affection! </div><div><br /></div><div>These two are very friendly, barks, Sanyu is the more social, and Kiko, is the more excitable. They need to find their "Forever Home!" sooner than later so their humans can have the pawsome pawleasure of enjoying watching them grow and blossom. </div><div><br /></div><div>To learn about adopting a dog from the Humane Society of Northern Virginia, pawlease visit their <a href="https://www.humanesocietynv.org/education" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Adoption Guide</a>.</div><div><br /></div><div>If you would like to meet Kiko or Sanyu, or both, or pawssibly adopt, pawlease complete the Humane Society of Northern Virginia <a href="https://www.humanesocietynv.org/adoptable-pets" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Dog Adoption Application</a>. <br /><br />Woofs! Happy Friday! My pawsome friend, "Lab Lady" at <a href="https://www.lab-rescue.org/">Lab Rescue</a> have brought a beautiful 5-year-old Chocolate Labrador Retriever named Abby for you to meet and consider adopting. <br /><br />Abby is looking for her "Forever Home!" in a rural single-family home with a physical fence located in a quiet neighborhood. She requires a female-only household. Barkingly, thanks to a generous donor, who thinks every Labrador Retriever deserves a home of their own, the adoption fee for this pup is $200. <p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCl3NYegJvFRtJ0ddoSnZT7Cu9DR4I9ttu-bM_jwLVYIe3_HCqmfNJTG1CC0Yalvst1qZhXxYwE-Q0wFJz-D8B-PFaDQ4rPXx1Zyuwbmidp3cblxydZJAznoqzak5qKubffY6gxMAB9nF_O6PPPIoQycln9T1RolWlsPY53UfUTwt2jVsK0nbYWgj0yd9R/s2048/from%20The%20Dogs%20Paw%20-%20FF%20(2).png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="(C) 2023, from The Dog's Paw!" border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCl3NYegJvFRtJ0ddoSnZT7Cu9DR4I9ttu-bM_jwLVYIe3_HCqmfNJTG1CC0Yalvst1qZhXxYwE-Q0wFJz-D8B-PFaDQ4rPXx1Zyuwbmidp3cblxydZJAznoqzak5qKubffY6gxMAB9nF_O6PPPIoQycln9T1RolWlsPY53UfUTwt2jVsK0nbYWgj0yd9R/w400-h400/from%20The%20Dogs%20Paw%20-%20FF%20(2).png" title="(C) 2023, from The Dog's Paw!" width="400" /></a></div>Barkingly, Abby is enjoying her foster home! She has been working on her weight and got a pawsitive report from the Veterinarian. Woofs. <p></p><p>Paws, she is now crate-free as she earned her foster's mom's trust and is pawmitted to roam the house unattended. Bark. </p><p>Abby enjoys adventures like visiting her Veterinarian for regular check-up. She pawsitively enjoyed the car ride. </p><p>Barks, she walks well on a leash. </p><p>Abby, a sweet former farm mama, is enjoying her retirement lying in the sunshine, rolling in the grass, taking treats, and giving little kisses to her foster mom. </p><p>Paws, she is slowly learning that new things and humans don't have to be scary. Abby will need a female-only home with a quiet environment, inside and outside, where she can adapt at her own pace. Barks, Abby is making regular strides in becoming a more confident dog with a typical step backward when something new is introduced. After a few weeks of no pressure from her foster mom, she voluntarily came into the same room and laid down, even lounging on the sofa with her. </p><p>Abby will do well as your one-and-only-dog-that-is or with a pack. She may trot around the yard with the pack but she is fairly independent. </p><p>Abby would be a wonderful companion for an adopter that is patient and willing to "meet her where she is."</p><p>To learn about adopting a Labrador Retriever from Lab Rescue, pawlease visit their <a href="https://www.lab-rescue.org/adoption-process" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Adoption Guide</a>. </p><p>If you would like to meet Abby, or pawssibly adopt her, pawlease complete the Lab Rescue <a href="https://www.lab-rescue.org/adopt" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Dog Adoption Application</a>. <br /><br />Barks, do you pawsitively love dogs, but are unable to adopt? Meows! Barks! It's time once again to confuse dogs, cats, and our humans all over the country. Paws, Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday morning at 2 a.m.! Our humans set their clocks back one hour during the day on Saturday so they don't forget at bedtime. </p><p>Paws, my human, dislikes this time of year because it begins getting dark around 5 p.m.. If he has to take the trash out, he needs to remember to do it before that so he doesn't risk meeting up with a bear or other wildlife searching for food. Also, it means the days will get colder as we progress toward the holidays and get shorter too. He loves the warm season with its hours of daylight! Paws.</p><p>One of the pawsome things about the time change is the mornings are sunnier earlier for awhile. Barks. </p><p>Remember, turn the clocks back one hour so you'll be on time for whatever you want to do along with the rest of the world. They did such a pawsome job helping me find my humans!<br /><br />Meet Barney! He is around 2-years-old, a Hound mix who is friendly with other dogs and mini-humans. He is not cat-friendly. <br /><br />Paws, anyone with a pawfully cute name like Barney has got to be a fun fella!
