Barkingly, while there are pawlenty of things you should think about before adopting a dog, you need to research and understand the needs of different breeds of dogs. Friday's Friend! Great Dane Dog Adoption, Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League

Great Dane Dog Adoption

Creative: from The Dog's Paw!

WOOFS! Barks, it is always a great pawleasure to catch up with my friend the "Great Dane Dame" from the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League who, along with several other very impawtant volunteers, help beautiful Great Danes find "Forever Homes!" This week, she brought by a Mantle Great Dane named "Little John."

(C) 2021, from The Dog's Paw!
Paws, my curiosity got the bestest of me and though I usually know everything and am right the first time, I decided to look this up to be sure I was sharing accurately! WOOFS! What is a Mantle Great Dane? It refers to the coloring. The blanket "coat" per see, over a white coloring is considered a Mantle Great Dane!

Little John is around 2-years-old and a very happy go-lucky kinda fella. At first, he can be a bit shy or hesitant to be near his humans but it doesn't take time for him to warm up.

WOOFS! Little John isn't into mini-humans of any age really. He doesn't understand the many and constantly changing various moods of his foster mom's teenager.  He prefers a quiet and consistently routine household.

Little John is a dominate-alpha male kinda guy. He gets along with other dogs but prefers that he is your one-and-only-dog-that-is! Barkingly, he is super-kind and respectful to cats so he wouldn't mind one in his new "Forever Home!" Woofs, and if you have farm animals, he's cool with that too!

He is pawsitively trustworthy to roam the house but would pawssibly steal food if it were left out for him to find.  He doesn't need to be crated. Barkingly, he'll let you know when he needs to go out!

Little John's energy level is a bit different from other dogs.  It's pretty much based on his humans! If you have a high-energy time of play, he'll happily join in. If you are a bit down or needing quiet, he will join you. Pawingly, when you have company, if they are calm and quiet with him, he'll do the same. WOOFS!

Little John does well on a leash though at times his "pack-leader" self will pull on the leash. With time,  training, and learning about his humans, he may do better on the leash.

Little John is a sweet fella who loves attention. Woofslys, he is pawlite about it though. Many dogs will press on their humans or get on furniture to get the attention they want. Barks, he will lay his head on your lap for attention but doesn't smother you. When you have had enough, he'll go along with you. Woofs? Don't see that much in Great Danes!

Little John would love to be adopted by a couple who will take him places with them! Woofs, especially ones who enjoy camping and hiking!

To learn about adopting a Great Dane with the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League, meet Little John or pawssibly adopt him, pawlease visit their Adoption Guide!

Woofs, do pawsitively love Great Danes but are not able to adopt? How about considering sponsoring Little John? Sponsoring him provides financial resources for his food, care, and Veterinary needs. Interested? Pawlease visit Sponsor! Donations are tax-deductible as permitted by the IRS.

WOOF! Happy Friday! This week, my pawsome friend Lab Lady from Lab Rescue has brought by Labrador Retrievers from the beautiful "Lab Rainbow" who are looking for their "Forever Home!" with humans to love who will love them too! What's the Lab Rainbow? A Labrador Retriever from each color, Black, Yellow, and Chocolate!

Meet Cooper! He is around 8-years-old who is looking for his "Forever Home!" in a rural or suburban single-family home. He does not have a fence requirement but does want his humans home more often than not. WOOFS!

Barkingly, Cooper is one friendly, happy-go-lucky kinda guy! He is a loving fella who enjoys spending time with his humans! WOOFS!

Cooper's idea of a pawfect day is a few walks, a few games of fetch, and an afternoon of snoozing and snuggling with his humans!

Cooper likes dogs of all sizes and is a popular playmate at his doggie daycare where he got an A+ on his report card! Barks!

Pawingly, a few details, Cooper is crate- and house-trained and knows all the basic commands. He has good house manners, barkingly, unless there's something yummy on the counter.

Cooper pawsitively loves his humans, so he can get anxious (barks) when he senses they are leaving. Woof!

Barkingly, don't let his frosty paws or handsome face fool you! He is an active fella who enjoys following you around the house, sleeping at your feet, and exploring the neighborhood.

Cooper is an owner surrender because his elderly humans could no longer care for him. He is recommended for mini-humans ages 10 and older, is good with cats and dogs.

WOOFs! WOOF! Meet my beautiful new lady friend, Wynona!

BARK! Wynona is looking for her "Forever Home!" in a rural or suburban single-family home with a fence. She prefers minimal stairs!

Wynona is a very friendly and loving 10-year-old Yellow Labrador Retriever who doesn't require long walks, barkingly, she has the mostest pawfect amount of energy especially when on a mission for a treat! Paws, she loves being petted and warmly welcomes her humans home - even if it's only from watering plants or getting the mail!

Barkingly, Wynona is pawsitively curious about squirrels and sometimes other dogs! Woofs, she would love to be your one-and-only-dog-that-is! She prefers a home with no cats!

Wynonna's tail wags non-stop! She is a happy dog adapting well to her new life with a foster family.

Barks, Wynona's favorite pastimes are looking out a window to watch squirrels and birds, playing with her Kong toys stuffed with treats, and occasionally with squeaky toys!

Paws, Wynona has lived with cats in the past, barkingly, she loves mini-humans and is approved for ages 10 and older.

Wynona will bark if she is left in her crate alone. Paws, otherwise she is quiet and not sensitive to strange sounds or noises. She has the pawfect house manners, even at dinner time, and likes sleeping with her foster's dogs!

Wynona has created a few videos to help her get adopted, Enjoying a WalkIn The Yard, and Wynona.

I am pawleased to introduce Zeke!

WOOF! WOOF! Zeke is around 2-years-old and a Chocolate Labrador Retriever! He is looking for his "Forever Home!" in a rural or suburban single-family home with a physical or underground fence. He is a strong impressive-looking fella but he's really a big sweetheart!

Zeke is one of those rare dogs who get excited or calm depending on the situation. Barkingly, he is somewhat high-energy but he doesn't pester his foster Mom or misbehave when he doesn't get enough exercise! Paws, that being woofed, he needs space to run as two walks a day is not enough exercise for him. Woofs! He may make a good running partner as he has no interest in heavy sniffing but does like to chase squirrels! Pawssibly some leash training would help.

Barkingly paws, Zeke is well-behaved and calm in the home. He will bark to alert his humans to activity outside the house but generally settles with a command, "enough."

Paws, Zeke loves removing his toys from the basket and then takes each on a victory lap through the house! WOOFS! Barks!! He is house-trained and well-behaved.

Zeke enjoys belly rubs, pets, kisses, cheese and Keeping You Company

Zeke is recommended for mini-humans ages 10 and older. He gets along with cats and other dogs!

WOOF! WOOF! Happy Friday my pawsome friends! I hope you have some great pawlans! Do you have a dog in your family? If not, pawlease consider giving Alba from PetConnect Rescue a "Forever Home!" with humans to love who will love her too?

Alba is around 8-years-old and pawbably a Mastiff, Cane Corso mix! She is crate- and house-trained, good with other dogs, and mini-humans. She is around 80 lbs. and could use to add some weight.

(C) 2021, from The Dog's Paw!
Barkingly, not much is known about her history, but she has so much lovin's she want to share with some pawingly grand humans.  The foster parent says she is one of the most affectionate dogs! Paws, she is amazing with humans.

Paws, Alba tends to spend a good part of her day resting and napping.

She is great on a leash and pawsitively loves going on a few daily walks with her humans where she can meet and greet others.

Barkingly, Alba can be a bit pawticular about her canine and feline friends! Woofs, if she loves them- she's pawfect! If not, so be it, and she gets grouchy! Barks. She will do best in as your one-and-only-dog-that-is!

Noah's Houndisms! Don't Pee in My Yard!

(C) 2009, Flickr Creative Commons, mslavick
"No Dog Pooping on the Grass"
(C) 2009, Flickr Creative Commons, mslavick

WOOFS! If you want to keep dogs out of your yard, resist the temptation to place planters with flowers, lighting, or garden art along the sidewalk where they walk. The “Do Not…” signs are a cute idea, but dogs don't read as they are too busy sniffing, so they may see these are seen as an invitation to leave pee-mail!

It's not the dog's fault for doing its business in your yard. It's their human who sometimes isn't able to stop their dog from doing business in your yard before it happens! Barkingly, often humans are paying more attention to their cell phones than their dogs which allows them to wander into places they shouldn't go- your yard. Paws, sometimes, the dog goes to "go" faster than their human realizes making it impossible to stop him and the "gifts" are given! BARK!

For me and Abby, when Dad walks us he uses a command, "not the yard!" He has worked diligently in our training to respect other human's property. Paws, unfortunately, it's not pawfect as sometimes with other commands! But, it works most of the time!

Please respect other people's property by keeping your dog off of it. Barkingly, homeowners can help by removing the temptations from near the sidewalks!
