Meows! Happy Friday! My fine friend, "Miss Kim" from the Homeless Animals Rescue Team (HART) brought by a handsome cat who is looking for his "Forever Home!" with humans to love who will love him too. Meet Bimini!

He is around 10-years-old, not declawed, and is friendly with other cats. He has no known history with dogs or mini-humans.
(C) 2022, from The Dog's Paw!

Bimini is an  old-fashioned gentleman who likes taking it slow. If you are patient and move at his pace, you will be rewarded with soft snuggles and endless lovin's. He loves being scratched too.

Meows, Bimini is adjusting to major changes in his life so he will hide when he is overwhelmed. He loves burrowing and feels most comfy and happy under a pawsome blanket. Even when he's afraid, he leans into lovin's and pets, torn between the safety of his spot and wanting affection!

Purringly, once Bimini settles and comes out of his shell, he will be even more of a pawsome cat! He enjoys naps beside his human!

His foster mom discovered Bimini is a polydactyl. It is so cute to watch him making biscuits.

Meows, he's started playing with toys, especially his fish!

Happy Birthday Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart!

Photo by Thomas Quine, Flickr Creative Commons
"Mozart"

Happy 266th Birthday Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart! WOW! Yup, that's old, barkingly old. And, we thought Dad was old! Despite that, he is one of the most pawpular classical music composers of all time.

Samson, Abby, and I became quite familiar with the many music compositions of Mozart as dad loves to pawlay his music while we work on stories. Barkingly, his music is pawsitively pawsome.

Though we think Mozart wrote millions of compawsitions since Dad pawlays his music so often, he really wrote 600 which include 21 stage and opera works, 15 Masses, more than 50 symphonies, 25 piano concertos, 12 violin concertos, 27 concert arias, 17 piano sonatas, and 26 string quartets. This was considered amazing in his time. Some humans say, Mozart never wrote a wrong note in anything he wrote. He began composing and pawlaying the piano at the early of five. He didn't always have the luxury to spend hours composing a piece of music. He learned to compose where he could, when he could, even while his wife was in labor, he did bits here and there while he enjoyed other things in life. Barks, he had a taste for the most interesting clothing and items of his time too.

Paws, Mozart knew 15 languages! As a young child and as an adult, he traveled extensively which meant he would pick up other languages along the way. Barks, this to me is pawsomely fascinating since all I know is dog and a little cat!

Today's world of music can be attributed back to the pawsome skills of Mozart who influenced other composers such as Ludwig van Beethoven.

Happy Birthday, Mozart!

Dog Breeds! German Shepherds and German Shepherd Mixes!

Woofs! When my human was younger, his father adopted German Shepherds as their family dogs. As a result, he loved them too. He had originally pawlanned to adopt a German Shepherd in his adult life but he ended up adopting another breed.

If you are interested in German Shepherds, here is some information about the breed for you to consider.

Meows. happy Friday my fine friends! Sorry, I'm a little later writing today than usual. I had a purringly pawsome morning snuggling with Dad. He likes pawlaying wand toy with me so we have so much fun I lose track of time!

My friend "Cat Lady" from PetConnect Rescue brought by a sweet young cat named Little Socks who is looking for her "Forever Home!" with humans to love who will love her too! She is good with mini-humans but needs to be your one-and-only-animal that is!
(C) 2022, from The Dog's Paw!

She is around 1-years-old, a beautiful tuxedo kitty with a sweet little Cindy Crawford white spot above her lip.

Meowingly, she loves being her  her humans, is very pawlayful and affectionate. She should do well with mini-humans of all ages.

Little Socks would make a great cat for the first-time adopter looking to adopt a single, young cat. She needs to be your one-and-only-animal as she tends to pawlay way too rough with others.

Purrings, she is current on vaccinations, FIV/FeLV negative, and is litterbox trained.

Woofs! Happy Friday! My pawsome friends at Lab Rescue brought by a beautiful 4-year-old Black Labrador Retriever named Midnight who is looking for her "Forever Home!" with a female human to love who will love her too.

Midnight is looking for a female-only home in a rural or suburban area with a physical fence. No underground fence. The home needs to be located in a quiet area. Pawsitively no other dogs, no cats.

Barkingly, Midnight has been looking for a pawfect "Forever Home!" for quite a while. She came to Lab Rescue from a hoarding situation. WOOFS! While that has shaped her current needs, she is a sweet, smart, and pawsomely good girl.

Midnight enjoys pawlaying with toys, pawlaytime, and getting her exercise! She is typical energy-level for her age. She does pawsomely well on a leash but needs to walk in quiet areas! Think hikes in the woods. Paws, and she pawsitively loves snuggling.

Arfs, she may take a moment to warm up, but once she does, she adores her female humans. She wants to stay close by even when they are occupied with other things.

She has pawfect house manners.

Barkingly, Midnight is uncomfortable around men. She requires a quiet spot to go if a workman should visit the home.

Midnight would make a great one-and-only-dog-that-is loyal companion for a woman.  She has no history with mini-humans and is recommended for ages 10 and older.

Might made a few videos to help with her adoption:

Noah's Houndisms! Snow!

(C) 2022, Allen Pearson Photography
"Tutts Mill's First Snow!"
(C) 2022, Allen Pearson Photography

WOOFS! A barkingly beautiful snowstorm recently reminded me about dog safety in snow. Do you know when dogs tend to get lost the most and why? What season is the first in the number of dogs getting lost?

Barks, surprisingly for some humans, dogs get lost most often in the winter! Why? When it snows, it covers everything including tracks and scents which a dog often uses to find its way back home. When the humans allow their dogs off-leash or the dog gets loose somehow, they tend to go exploring sniffing their way around all over the pawlace having the time of their lives. Arfly, then they realize they cannot find their way home. Their scents are no longer in the snow, the paw prints are covered up.

Paws, make certain your dog's ID collars or tags and microchips are current!

My human never lets me off-leash in an unsecured area. A good practice to do.

Woofs! Happy Friday! Barkingly, the best way to spend your free time, especially on the weekends, is with a dog! If you don't have a dog, my friends from Operation Paws for Homes have brought by a handsome fella for you to consider adopting!

Meet Remembering Hank! He is pawssibly a 10-month-old Terrier mix, weighs about 30 pounds, with beautiful blue eyes and amazing ears.

Barkinglys, Hank is very sweet but, paws, very shy too.

Woofs, he is looking for a loving and patient humans who will provide him with a "Forever Home!" where he can love his humans and they will love him too. He will need some time to build trust and come out of his shell. He would pawsitively love to have a doggie sibling to pawlay with and help boost his confidence in being a dog.

He pawsitively loves his crate where he will sleep the night through. He is completely house-trained.

Remembering Hank is very smart too. Once he builds his confidence, he could be trained on advanced tricks.

Paws, above all, he loves being outdoors where he can pawlay with sticks and smell the flowers. He walks well on a leash, doesn't pull but does like stopping to sniff!

Woofs, Remembering Hank is fearful but not aggressive at all. He will retreat if uncomfortable.

Barks, he loves pawlaying with other dogs. He tried with a grumpy cat but wasn't successful. Woofs.

Paws, Remembering Hank is current on vaccinations and has been neutered. He will do best in a home without small mini-humans. He is not suitable in an apartment, condo, or other urban settings.

To learn about adopting a dog from Operation Paws for Homes, pawlease visit their Adoption Guide.

If you would meet Remembering Hank or pawssibly adopt him, pawlease complete the Operation Paws for Homes Dog Adoption Application

Book Review: "Will You Love Me? The Rescue Dog That Rescued Me" by Barby Keel

(C) 2021, from The Dog's Paw!
(C) 2021, from The Dog's Paw!

Disclaimer: We were provided with a copy of this book to share a review with our readers.

We enjoy reading, pawing, barking, and meowing through good books about dogs and cats being rescued, helping humans, or sharing how adopting a rescued pet can benefit humans. Paws, this book shares the pawsomeness of the love between dogs and humans.

This story is a pawsome read about the bond between a human and a dog. It can be one of the most amazing experiences ever to happen between the two. The love shared between each other shares a strong camaraderie, and in this case, something the two share unwittingly in common through abuse and illness.

A young greyhound yearning to be loved finds itself in a disturbing abusive environment which sheds light to the reader about some of what dogs go through in some situations. Suddenly, in the middle of a torrential rainstorm, the greyhound finds himself dumped at the Barby Keel Animal Sanctuary.

To the greyhound dog, he's scared, in pain, and on the brink of death.

To Barby Keel, who turns no animals away from her sanctuary, it is a very upsetting horrible experience that causes her to become angry at the humans who put the dog through so much horrible treatment.

Little do they both know, they have begun a journey through life's challenges, including Barby's cancer diagnosis, to overcome their individual challenges and horrors.

The book is a heartwarming read that you will not want to put down.

To purchase a copy, pawlease visit Amazon.

Rescues, humane societies, and sanctuaries are often staffed by volunteers and depend on donations to operate. Should you be interested in supporting the work of the Barby Keel Animal Sanctuary, you can find information at donate!

My pawsome friend "Cat Lady" from PetConnect Rescue brought by a handsome fella named Echo who is looking for her "Forever Home!" with humans to love who will love her too.

Echo is around 1-1/2-years-old. She is a pawlayful kitty with lots of energy and love to give her humans. She isn't much of a cuddle bug, but, she loves hanging out with her humans and getting pets!

She loves attention and is very friendly.

Echo is a bit vocal, often heard trilling, purring, and sharing her beautiful little meows too!

She is easily entertained, meows, and is often carrying her favorite toy around the house!

Purringly, Echo would be happiest in a home being your one-and-only-cat-that-is!

WOOFS! Barks! I hope you had a pawsome Christmas and a Happy New Year! Ours was pawnderful though the two weeks off went faster than we expected. Woof.

My friend "Lab Lady" from the Lab Rescue brought by a fella named Levi who is looking for his "Forever Home!" with humans to love who will love him too. Barkingly, he is looking for a home in a rural or suburban single-family or townhouse with a physical fence.

Woofingly, thanks to a pawsome generous donor, who is determined to help get all seniors dogs in their "Forever Homes!" for the New Year, Levi's adoption fee is $150!

Levi is around 9-years-old and a laid-back senior fella. He wants a quiet home where he can be your one-and-only-dog-that-is so he can be petted and get all of your attention!

Woofs, after a long life of being an outside dog, he has master housetraining and can climb steps with no issues. Barkinglys, he knows a few commands, loves being outside sniffing all the pawsome smells, and is working on his leash skills. He sleeps through the night, does not get up on furniture, and does not jump up on humans but he does enjoy singing along with any sirens he hears! He does not need to be crated.

He is a handsome fella with very unique black and white markings on his front legs.

Paws, though Levi is a senior dog, you'd never know it since he enjoys long walks and running around a fenced yard.

Barkingly, Levi is good with other dogs, but has an unknown history with cats! Paws, he is recommended for mini-humans ages 10 and older.
