Friday's Friend! Dog Adoption, Operation Paws for Homes

WOOF! BARK!  I have to admit, I love visiting with my uncle Ed who cares for me when my humans travel.  I have a blast, I love all the running and playing and long walks and new toys and news treats and all the games we play- he can even do a triple double decker somersault all across the backyard with me- the neighbors get a laugh and so do we when the games are over and my humans return.

I have missed writing my weekly column "Friday's Friend" for you to meet dogs and cats looking for their "Forever Home!"

My friends from Operation Paws for Homes brought by a most beautiful young lady for you to meet- Vesta!

Friday's Friend! Dog Adoption, Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League

WOOF!  I love when these huge dogs called "Great Danes" come to visit.  Paws, they are great and handsome dogs- incredible to watch and play with in the backyard. I love it when my friends at the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League League bring by a dog for you to meet!

"Deuce"
(C) Mid-Atlantic Great Dane
Rescue League
Meet Deuce, a 6 year old medium size male black Great Great Dane.

Deuce loves entertaining his foster mom and sister with his playful goofiness and taking them on a brisk walk every day to his favorite spot, a local cemetery with little distractions and beautiful views! These walks keep his muscles tone and his joints loose.

After his walk, Deuce loves to curl up on a comfortable seat with his blanket, pillow, and teddy bear though he doesn't seem to care for other chew toys!  WOOF!  No matter his mood, the bear toy serves as form of comfort!

Paws, I think this is cool, Deuce knows to do his business on command and knows his basic commands too. He respects the boundaries established with a baby gate. Barks, he stays on his side of the bed at night!  WOOFs!  WOOF!

Deuce likes taking a bath, but doesn't like his nails clipped.

Car rides?  He does well in the car for short periods.

While he enjoys doggie daycare once in awhile, he prefers to be your one and only dog in a very quiet home.  He doesn't like the appliance noises around the home but is getting used to them.

Deuce isn't much on meeting new humans coming into the home, it takes him awhile to warm up.  Though with pawsitive training and direction or redirection, he will be less aggressive with strangers.

Deuce gets along well with other animals but is uneasy around cats.

A strict routine, positive attention will make this buddy a pawsome loving companion.

Saturday's Success: Joey Got Adopted

"Joey and His Human"
(C) Destiny for Dogs

A few weeks ago, I shared with you a story about Joey, a special needs dog who lost his "Forever Home" due to his health and dietetic needs.  Here is the story if you would like to read it, Dog Adoption for Special Needs Dog.

Recently, I received a barkingly pawsome email from Ms. Joanne with Destiny for Dogs, who was helping him to find a human to love. She shared that Joey found a pawtastic human and a "Forever Home!" WOOFs! Barks! There are so many cool humans in the world.

"Joey the 3 year old corgi mix boy with autism has found his special someone a new loving home, this time for real forever??

His new mom, Sonji is just what we all hoped and prayed for. No other animals or small children, a very quiet home, total commitment and dedication to Joey's special needs. Sonji attended training with veterinarian behavioralist, Dr. Radosta and her tech Kayla. Joey and Sonji were amazing. For Sonji, it was love at first sight. She realized that Joey needed her and she needed him. It was truly heartwarming with tears of joy!

Thanks to all for caring about Joey and your dedication with networking this special guy.

Love Barks and Licks from Joey??"

Prayer Pups

It’s often hard to remember to be grateful for things that are good for us, but aren’t very fun, like going to the veterinarian. But try to keep in mind that it’s a blessing in disguise

Lab Rescue has been inpawdibly busy rescuing dogs who have been at the small shelters for a while. These dogs needed to move to a rescue so to make room for dogs loosing their homes because of the floods.

My friend "Lab Lady" brought by a few paws for you to meet- Butters and Sissy!

Friday's Friend! Dog Adoption, Operation Paws for Homes

WOOF! BARK!  Happy Friday! Paws you had a pawsome week!  My friends from Operation Paws for Homes brought by a pawsome dog for you to meet this week- Captain!

"Captain Desi Dog!"
(C) Operation Paws for Homes
Captain made his way to the United States from New Delhi, India to find his "Forever Home!"

Captain was a stay with horrible wounds on his face.  His rescuers weren't even sure there was an eye underneath the wound. He made a full recovery under  attentive hands in India.

Captain is cool dog who loves to cuddle even when he goes outside to play!  WOOF!!  Barkingly pawsome, he spends half the time cuddling with his foster mom!

Captain is crate trained and house trained.  Since he's a young 'un, he'll need to be crated while humans are away.  He's working on his house manners and learning not to jump on everyone.  He is a quick learner too!

Captain gets along with other dogs after being around them a few days.  He gets along well with children.

Since Captain lived as a stray, he needs to go to a home without small animals as he has a prey drive.  WOOF!!

Interested in meeting this pawsome guy?  Please complete the Operation Paws for Homes Adoption Application.

Friday's Friend! Cat Adoption, PetConnect Rescue

A visit from my friend, "Miss Cathy" from PetConnect Rescue proved to be a catty adventure full of meows and purrs- not sure if it was all her or Sebastian!
"Sebastian"
