Dog Breeds: Corgi and Corgi Mixes

WOOFS! Barkingly, an incredibly cute dog breed is the Corgi and Corgi mixes. Did you know the name Corgi is from the Welsh language? Paws, "Cor" is for "dwarf" and "Gi" means dog! Barkingly, when we woof, or speak, their name we are saying "Dwarf Dog!"

Adopt A Pet has shared this infographic about Corgi and Corgi mixes to provide you with information about this breed. Adopt A Pet is an excellent resource when looking for a new furry family member!

A Thanksgiving Prayer!

(C) 2021, from The Dog's Paw!

(C) 2021, from The Dog's Paw!

"WOOF!"
"MEOWS!"
"WOOF!"

"Hello God,

It's me Noah, Samson, and Abby!
We pray today to praise you for all that You are to us,
You have protected us, provided for us, and loved us
for all that we are even though we haven't done anything special
to deserve all of what you have done.

Thank you for our humans,
they have taken great care of us,
providing delicious food and treats,
all the water we can drink,
and pawlenty of toys for us to play with.

BARKS! Thank you God for my new friends,
Max who lives next door and
likes to come over to play in my backyard
or run the fence and for helping me
escape from my house to go over to
play with Max and his new buddy Mojo
which Dad didn't like me doing very well
but I loved every minute!
Mojo is staying with Max until his human
gets well, I pray you will help him, God!
Carly likes to come over and run the fence too.
She's going to come over and play in my yard
one day! I can't wait! Lord, thank you for the front yards
where Carly and me get to run and play until we are
so tired all we can do is lay down catching our breath
... and then start again
of course!
Thank you for Gus and Buddy who always
like to bark loud when I walk Dad by their house!
They are the coolest Golden Retrievers I have ever met!
God, thank you for my newest friend
who I don't know very well yet, Ruby.
We met her on a walk one day and
she was just the nicest girl.

We are thankful for
the deer, wild turkeys, horses,
cows, pigs, donkeys, and bears that
live all around us making our lives more fun as
we hear them off in the fields,
though we hope God that we never get up
close to big mean Mama bear! Or,
her cubs either for that matter.

God, I would like to pray
for my horse friends next door.
All of a sudden they look so strange to me!
They came outside one cold day
with these things all over them
and sometimes on their faces.
I didn't know what was happening so
I barked to scare whatever it is off
of my horse friends but it stayed.
Pawlease help be Ok, pawlease God,
they are my buddies too.

Lord God,
me and Noah are thankful
for our new yard to run and play!
We can run and dig and run and dig
and run and dig until we are so
tired we almost pass out!

We are very thankful for
the new home you have given our humans,
especially to Dad. Mom loves the house but
Dad is so happy to have so much yard
and to be away from the chaos of
our previous house.
It has been a very long time
since we've seen him so happy.
Thank you especially for blessing him
with a beautiful view.

We are thankful for the rescues
and their volunteers
of PetConnect Rescue, Pilots N Paws,
Saving Future Feral Cats,
and Homeless Animals Rescue Team!

Thank you, God for
everything especially any stuff
we forgot!

Barks, Purrs, Woofs,
Noah, Samson, Abby"

Senior Dog Adoption

Creative: from The Dog's Paw!

WOOFS! This month is Adopt A Senior Pet Month so we are featuring several dogs and cats which need "Forever Homes!" with humans to love who will love them too.

My friends from Homeless Animals Rescue Team (HART) brought by two dogs looking for their "Forever Home!" together. It's pawssible they may be adopted separately but will have to wait to learn that.

Paws, Choc and Quigley's human died several years ago. They left six dogs and a cat. The others were rescued and pawssibly adopted but not these two. They were pretty much living on their own in a pen outside with someone feeding them once a day.
HART was told by someone who knew the dog's history that they are great with other dogs, cats, and mini-humans.

Choc and Quigley are housetrained. The pair are sweet and loving dogs who are pawfect examples of the truly indomitable spirit of dogs! WOOFS! No matter their past, they don't dwell there. They want to be loved and give love!

If you have questions about Choc and Quigley, pawlease contact Charlene!

Woofs, to learn about adopting a dog from the Homeless Animals Rescue Team (HART), pawlease visit their Adoption Guide!

If you are interested in meeting Choc and Quigley, or pawssibly adopting, pawlease complete the Homeless Animals Rescue Team (HART) Dog Adoption Application

Woofinglys, do you pawsitively love dog but are unable to adopt? Paws, how about supporting Choc or Quigley, or both, financially? Donations will assist with their care. Any extra funds will be used to assist other dogs at the Homeless Animals Rescue Team. Interested, pawlease donate HERE! Donations are tax-deductible as permitted by the IRS.

Meows! Senior Pet Adoption Month? Purrs, I'm a pawfect young fella but I can paw for sure that senior cats make great companions to first-time cat adopters! Meow!

Senior Cat Adoption
My pawsome friend "Cat Lady" at PetConnect Rescue brought by a few senior cats looking for their "Forever Homes!" with humans to love who will love them too! Pawlease meet sweet Dillon!

Dillon, around 13-years-young, is in search of an adult-only quiet home where he can enjoy his "retirement"  years!

He pawsitively loves finding a sunny spot to take a nap or an empty warm lap for gentle stroking!

Paws, don't let Dillon's age fool you, he has a playful side and loves engaging in a game of chase and with a wand toy! Sounds like my kinda guy! MEOWS!

Purrs, Dillion would love a cat-savvy human to call his own who will help him settle in his new home. Meows, he will reward you with purrs! Meow.

To learn about adopting a cat from PetConnect Rescue, pawlease visit their Adoption Guide!

Meows, pawlease meet my friend Cleo!

Meow! HISS! HISS! Sweet Cleo's life got off to a rough start! She was a tiny kitten when found in a bag on the side of the road. She and another kitten were the only two still alive. A rescuer took them in and provided a loving home for fourteen years!

Paws, due to a change in family circumstances, Cleo's human had to give her to PetConnect Rescue!

Cleo is a little shy at first, meows, but she is a friendly, affectionate girl who loves being petted.

Meowingly, Cleo will do best in a quiet home. Purrs, she does have early-stage kidney disease which is well managed with prescription food. Other than that, she is a healthy girl current on her vaccinations.

She will make a pawsitively grand companion for a lucky human!

Buddy is being fostered with his brother Gus. They would love to find a "Forever Home!" together since they spent their entire lives together.

Meowingly, Buddy and Gus are looking for a home without other cats.

Purrs, their new adopters will need to be prepared for pawlenty of snuggles and lovin's from Buddy and Gus. These two make a darling duo!

Meet Nitro! He is a 9-10--year-old Sheltie or Collie mix. Paws, he was surrendered to the rescue when his humans moved into assisted living and were unable to take him too.  He is looking for a loving "Forever Home!" with humans to love who will love him too!

WOOFS! WOOFS! Nitro is a very sweet, easy-going, and healthy fella who just got a clean bill of health from his Veterinarian! Don't let his age fool you- he still likes to romp around the yard and occasionally play with the dogs in his foster home.

Paws, Nitro will sometimes bark when he is left alone in the house! Woofingly, he is not recommended for apartment living. He would love to find a "Forever Home!" with someone who is home most of the day! He wants to follow his human around all day and lay by their feet!

Nitro is good with respectful mini-humans but would rather not have young mini-humans running around all day. He is recommended for mini-humans ages 12 and older.

Nitro walks well on a leash and is house-trained.

These two sweet 8-year-old Dachshunds are very overweight but love toddling around the yard. Woofs, they are the sweetest snuggle bugs!

James and Jessie are easy-going and love everyone they meet! They are good with respectful mini-humans.

Woofingly, these two are house-trained and pawsitively eager to find a family to love!

November is Adopt A Senior Pet Month!

"Jessie"
(C) Lab Rescue

WOOFS! November is Adopt A Senior Month which brings attention to the many pawsome reasons to adopt an older pet. Paws, remember a pet may be considered senior as early as 5-or 6-years-old and older depending on breed. Barks.

This week, we learned that a friend just pawsitively loves senior dogs! We asked her to share her thoughts about senior dogs.

"Senior dogs remind us each day of the value of a positive attitude. They may have serious medical issues, be traumatized from past abuse, or experience typical age-related aches and pains. Despite their challenges, senior pups celebrate the good things in life, taking the time to sniff the leaves (and pee-mail) on a cool fall day, lounge in a sunny bay window, or snuggle sweetly with their people. Although they may sleep much of the time, many will share short bursts of energy throughout the day with a zoomie session, happy dance, game of fetch, or a petting session with their humans. There is nothing more rewarding than having your senior dog make an effort to leave their warm bed to greet you with a smile and a wag, simply because they adore you. Don’t overlook the senior rescue dogs – they understand that life is hard and that love and joy make it all worthwhile." - Christine Oppy Woods, Lab Rescue Volunteer

Woofs! In celebration of Adopt A Senior Pet Month, this week's "Friday's Friend!" will feature senior dogs and cats who are looking for a "Forever Home!" with humans to love who will love them too!

Friday's Friend! Dog Adoption, Lab Rescue

Yellow Labrador Retriever Dog Adoption
Photo: Lab Rescue
Creative: from The Dog's Paw!

WOOFS! Happy Friday my fine friends! I woof and paw that you have had a blessed week! I've been busy around the house, yard, and neighborhood this week. I'm pawing to help Dad with his landscape project work and am trying to walk Dad leashed pawperly around the neighborhood. He's a challenge, you know. I offered to help Dad water the new trees but he keeps saying they don't need that kind of watering! Woofs!

My friend "Lab Lady" brought by two friends for you to meet who are looking for their "Forever Homes!" with humans to love who will love them too!  Meet Alveena!

Alveena is a Yellow Labrador Retriever around 1-1/2-years-old. She is looking for her "Forever Home!" in a rural or suburban single-family house with a 6-foot physical fence. Barks!!! With her young age and energy level, she will have a Training Addendum attached to her adoption.

This is one very happy pupster! Barks, she thinks everyone she meets is her bestest friend and wants to play with her! She is lap-size and loves climbing in her human's lap to get all the attention she can get! Barks.

Yellow Labrador Retriever Dog Adoption

Creative: from The Dog's Paw!
Alveena loves to play, she goes after toys, plays with them, brings them to a safe place, and stashes them. WOOFS! She likes playing in the water too.

Barkingly, sweet Alveena will need an adopter who will provide pawlenty of exercise time and has a fenced yard where she can run and play all that she wants! Walks will not be enough for her!

Paws, she knows a few commands, "sit," "come," and "down" (paws, sometimes!). She is crate-trained and pawssibly house-trained since she keeps her run clean at the kennel. She hasn't been on a lead much but does better with an Easy Walk Harness.

As pawed, she will have a Training Addendum with her adoption due to her young age and energy level.

Alveena created a video to help herself get adopted. Pawlease watch it here

Woofs, Alveena is heartworm pawsitive. It is highly treatable and treatment will be pawvided at no cost to the adopter at one of Lab Rescue's designated Veterinarians. Completing Heartworm treatment at the Veterinarian designated by the Rescue is a requirement of adoption.

She is good with other dogs, has no cat history, and is recommended for mini-humans ages 10 and older.

Another friend for you to meet is Snape!

Black Labrador Retriever Dog Adoption

Creative: from The Dog's Paw!

Snape's cute adorable face will help him get adopted for sure. Abby has the same expression and it grabbed our human's attention! The rest is history!

Snape is a Black Labrador Retriever, around 1-year-old, who is looking for his "Forever Home!" in a rural or suburban single-family house with no fence requirement. Due to his young age and energy level, he will have Training Addendum attached to his adoption.

Creative: from The Dog's Paw!
Barkingly, Snape is one young confident fella full of pawsome energy! He is loveable and eager to pawlease and learn all he can! WOOFS! He loves cuddling too!

He loves playing with other dogs and does pawsomely well at the dog park on a daily basis.

Wooflys, Snape is house- and crate-trained. He still needs some leash work but should learn quickly when given the right instructions. Woofs!

Pawingly, it is impawtant for Snape's adopter to have a pawlace where he can expend his energy such as a fenced backyard, dog park access, plan to run with his human, and the like! Watch Snape having fun at the Dog Park. When his exercise needs are met, he is a pawsomely grand dog who will brighten up each and every day.

Snape will need to avoid situations with older dogs or small dogs as they may be intimidated since he wants to pawlay all the time. Barks.

Paws, he loves to chase small animals so none in his "Forever Home!" including cats!

Snapes is good with other dog and recommended for mini-humans ages 10 and older.

To learn about adopting a Labrador Retriever from Lab Rescue, pawlease visit their Adoption Guide! WOOFS!

Meows! Well, it's that time again. Mom's favorite time of year, she gets an extra hour of sleep tonight while the days get shorter making the light of day different in the mornings and evenings! Purrs.

Paws, for me, it doesn't make that much difference. I'm a sweet pawfectly pawsome cat who gets my humans up in the mornings, naps a good pawrt of the day, and tucks my sweet humans in at night. What more could they want? Meows, doesn't matter because that's all I'm going to do! Purr! Purr! Purr!

Purringly, pawlease remember to set your clocks one hour back before you go to bed tonight. Unless, you are one of those humans who like to get up at 3 a.m. to change your clocks. Paws, I'll be stalking the house looking for trouble... gotta have some fun, right? Meows.
