Happy Autumn!

(C) 2022, from The Dog's Paw!
(C) 2022, from The Dog's Paw!

Woofs and Meows! Happy third day of Autumn, or maybe it's just the second since it began at 9:03 p.m. on Thursday night. Ruff! We were busy celebrating "Remember Me" with the Helen Woodward Animal Center that we couldn't post anything about the new fall season coming in.

Meows, the calendar first day of each season is fascinating to me! Paws, the Autumnal Equinox means the Sun will directly align above the Earth's equator. The sunlight hours will become equal to the nighttime hours. Paws, the word equinox itself means "time of equal day and night."

Woofs, Dad doesn't like this time of year, not only because of the colder temperatures, but the days are getting shorter until the "Winter Solstice" in December. At that point, the day will be the shortest day and the night will be the longest of the year. Barkingly, but the next day, the daylight begins getting longer!

Fall brings on all kinds of fun outdoor activities, football games, tailgate pawties, picnics, bike rides, drives in the countryside seeing the beautiful fall foliage, it's the pawfect time for stargazing,  hayrides, corn mazes, and the list could go on and on. I think Dad is pawlanning to take us on a ride along Skyline Drive, Shenandoah National Park.

Happy Autumn! May you have a blessed season!

MEOWS! What a pawsome week I've had! I've gotten to enjoy lots of naps, some in the sun, some in hiding and playing with my toys and lovin' on Mom! Yeah, I allowed  Dad a few fleeting moments of lovin's but only a few and far between! Purrs!

Meow, My friends from the Humane Society of Loudoun County brought by a beautiful cat named Cinnamon for you to meet and consider adopting! Purr.

(C) 2022, from The Dog's Paw!
Meows, purringly, Cinnamon is looking for a "Forever Home!" with humans to love who will love her too and where she can get all of the attention! Paws, and pawssibly have a buddy. She likes cats and dogs.

Hiss! Hiss! Cinnamon grew up just a little too fast. She had her first litter of kittens at barely 6 months old. Paws, none of them survived, and neither did her second litter. Purringly, The Humane Society of Loudoun County had some testing done. They found she has something called Feline Leukemia (FeLV). She was treated with medicine, spayed, and had all her teeth pulled. Now, she feels amazing! Her fur got fluffy and soft, her eyes are bright green and she's full of energy!

Meowingly paws, she loves to cuddle, snuggle and pawlay with her foster mom! Paws, recently she got to spend time with, and you won't believe this, with a dog! She had so much fun. She would love to have a friendly dog or another FeLV-positive cat friend to spend time with.

Purrs, Cinnamon is around 1 year old and has lots of life and lovin's to give. She is grateful for the second chance in life to enjoy it to the fullest!

Remember Me Thursday!

Woofs, meows, barks! Samson, Abby, and me, Noah, have been writing, photographing, and creating graphics for nearly twelve years to bring attention to the blessings and impawtant aspects of adopting a dog or cat from a rescue or shelter.

Woofs, while we can't save all the millions of cats and dogs all at once, we can save them by adopting one at a time. Our humans adopted us and their previous three pets from rescues and have been blessed well beyond their expectations.

Each week, we write posts, "Friday's Friend!" where we introduce you to our dog and cat friends from local Virginia area rescues, humane societies, and shelters who need "Forever Homes!" with humans to love who will love them too.

Meows, when considering a cat, the coolest pawrt about adopting from a rescue is the volunteers are likely to have had the cat in their care long enough to know what type of family would be its best fit. A quiet family wouldn't want a crazy cat while a busy active family probably would. My human Mom wanted to adopt a cat but Dad was terrified of them until he met the gentle giant Maine Coons who make pawsome pets for human like him.

Woofs, the same is true with dogs Samson. Rescue volunteers learn as much as they can about a dog coming into their care. A foster human will take the dog into their care to try and learn more about the fella so it can be pawlaced in the best human home. Our humans want a quiet dog that's fairly active but not high-energy which is how they found Noah and Abby.

Barkingly, to find the next furry addition to your family, visit a local rescue, humane society, or shelter. Share your adoption story at Remember Me Thursday!

Woofingly, Chloe is a happy girl who loves giving hugs to anyone who needs one! She is a pawfect lady indoors! She sleeps quietly on her bed all night, enjoys snoozes in a sunny spot next to you while you work, and doesn't need crated. Woofs, she ignores shoes! She will ask politely to be let out to do her business!

Chloe's walking manners in the neighborhood have impawroved quite a bit! She will continue to impawrove by using the Easy Walk Harness. An experienced adopter will bring out the best in her.

Woofs, Chloe continues to lean new commands too. Barks, she has mastered "down" and "wait."

She enjoys belly rubs, being petted, retrieving tennis balls,  and likes to hang out on the deck watching the birds and chipmunks.

Barkingly, Chloe made a few videos to help her find her "Forever Home!" with humans to love who will love her too!

Purrs,  Pop Rocks and Bubble Gum have chill and calm energy levels. They love napping in the comfort of their humans bed and are playful. Meowingly, they love catnip toys, balls on a track, and pom poms.

Meows, Bubble Gum is the passive one of the pair being gentle and shy. He is full of lovin's for his brother!

Woofingsly, though not shy, he is still a bit uncertain of new things. Barkingly, he needs a confident human to adopt him and help him to realize how amazing life can be! HART thinks he didn't get out much before coming to the rescue so everything is new to him.
