Happy Gotcha Day Samson!

Happy Gotcha Day!
(C) from The Dog's Paw!

Two years ago Samson you came into our lives. I have to admit, my first thought was that I didn't want to adopt another cat especially since I will be the one who is home all day with it. But, Mom found you online and you looked to be a perfect fit for our family. I thought if we had to adopt a cat, you might be the perfect one for us.

I talked with Noah about the possibility of him having a cat brother again. After reading about you and looking at the pics, he thought you might be the perfect addition to our family too.

So Mom and I jumped in the car and drove to Annapolis, Maryland to see you! It was no short trip either... two hour drive each way! It was an interesting visit because we couldn't see you- except maybe a bit of your cute face while you hid from us. I can't say that I blame you at all! I would be scared too with all the changes in your life happening and all the strange humans coming by to look at you.  When we left, Mom prayed and hoped that we would get to adopt you. Little does she know, I did too.

Within a week or so, we got the news that you would be joining our family. Mom prepared you a place in a bedroom where you could feel safe and become acquainted with your new surroundings and life.

I thought it was really cool that we got to adopt you on "Father's Day!" This made the day become very special for me as I have another furry son!

It took you a while to come out of your room and explore the rest of the house. And, a bit longer to learn to love Mom but even longer to learn that I am a good guy and would never ever hurt you.

Now, you rule the house as if you have lived here forever!

Today, we celebrate your "Gotcha Day!" because Mom, Noah, and I are very happy we "GOTCHA!" and welcomed you home. Happy "Gotcha Day" Samson!

Happy Gotcha Day Samson!

Barks, today is the longest day of the year too. Dad always celebrates it by being outside in his garden until the sun has gone down and it's totally dark outside. Paws, it's his favorite time of the year!

Meows, through extensive psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and Pavlovian conditioning with his foster, he has worked through his anger issues with lots of love and treats.

Brock is loving life in his foster home! Paws, since he's completely defenseless, he doesn't like other animals or taxidermy either! HISS!

Paws, Brock does love his humans and looks for attention.

MEOWS! Happy Friday! I have a pawsome cat this week from the Homeless Animals Rescue Team (HART) for you to meet!

Purrs, this is handsome Fiyero! He is not declawed and is around 8-years-old! He is dog- and cat-friendly but not so with mini-humans!

Fiyero has a pawsome grand pawsonality! He just loves hanging out with his humans... in the same room... on the same bed... but he's not a clingy-kinda guy!

Paws, he is pawsitively hilarious around a water faucet! He tosses the water around, lets it run down his head! Just look at his pawsome water adventure photos!

MEOWS! He even likes vegetables! Oh my catness! He prefers vegetables over cat treats! He will push an apple off the counter to play with like a toy and steals carrots, celery, and cilantro!

He needs an adopter who can read cat behavior and knows when to pull away when he wants to play "love bites on daddy's hand!"

Paws, if you are looking to adopt and incredibly cool kitty, you should meet Fiyero!

Cat Adoption

Meows and purrs, Jack is a mellow dude who lives with numerous other cats. He loves laying in the sunshine, meandering around the house, and waiting for his humans to dote on him. Paws, sounds like almost the pawfect cat... he'd be perfect except I am the mostest pawfect cat ever... so there you go! Jack is available for adoption though!

Jack is around 2-years-old and ready to go to his "Forever Home!"

Friday's Friend! Dog Adoption, Lab Rescue

Black Labrador Retriever Dog Adoption
Photo: Lab Rescue
Creative: from The Dog's Paw!

WOOF! Barks, my pawsome friends Jenny and Hayley from Lab Rescue are looking for their "Forever Home!" These two are bond-bestest-buddies who must be adopted together. They would like their "Forever Home" in a single-family house located in a rural or suburban location with a physical fence!

Jenny and Hayley love to play and run! A big fenced yard is a huge plus. They will need adopters who will have patience to allow them to move at their own pace around humans. They will require time to become the bestest-dogs-they-can-be! Barks, if you like watching dogs have fun, these two are for you!

Creative: from The Dog's Paw!

Jenny is a Black Labrador Retriever who is around 3-years-old. Hayley is a Black Labrador Retriever around 1-year-old.

WOOF! After running, playing, and rolling around in the yard, they take a long nap until the next round.

The girls are not your typical outgoing Labs. They are brave and improve every day in their foster home. Baby steps are best for them. Watch them play, Hayley and Jenny play in Slo-Mo!
Black Labrador Retriever Dog Adoption

Creative: from The Dog's Paw!

Barks, Jenny will do just about anything for a treat! She has gained confidence after a rough beginning in life. She has overcome a lack of socialization and human contact! Barks, she enjoys hanging out with the family but wants her crate left open so she can chill when she needs it! Hayley feels very brave around her! She was not socialized and was left with the impression that people are unkind. She may not cuddle but will lick your hands. The pair will need time to adjust to new situations.

Woofs, Jenny and Hayley love other dogs- the more the merrier! This high energy duo needs the oppawtunity to run like the wind and play hard to work off their youthful energy. Watch Jenny and Hayley playing: Hayley and Jenny Love to Play!

Jenny and Hayley are approved for mini-humans ages 10 and older. Barkingly, they will NOT do well in a home where mini-humans are coming and going! Paws, they are good with cats as they lived with one in previous homes.

Barks, to learn more about adopting a Labrador Retriever with Lab Rescue, pawlease visit their Adoption Guide.

If you are interested in meeting Jenny and Hayley, or would like to apply to pawssibly adopt them, pawlease complete the Lab Rescue Dog Adoption Application.

Friday's Friend! Dog Adoption, Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League

Great Dane Dog Adoption

WOOF! WOOF! Though I wish this beautiful young lady would find humans to love with a "Forever Home!" and the humans would love her too-she is so beautiful and would be a pawsome addition to an active family, I do enjoy her visiting to share about herself to you! Chloe is a 2-year-old Great Dane from the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League.  She has beautiful markings, stands up tall and straight with her tail curled. Many humans, and me, comment on her beauty!
Great Dane Dog Adoption
Photo: Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League
Creative: from The Dog's Paw!

Woofingly, Chloe had ACL surgery on her right leg in January 2020 which was successful! She has been in foster care strengthening her leg and has been released to regular activities by her Veterinarian! She has all of her energy back!

Paws, Chloe enjoys playing with her squeaky toys! She is completely house- and crate-trained. Woofs, she loves her crate using it to hang-out or sleep.

Woofingly, she doesn't do well with other female dogs. Paws, due to ACL recovery followed by the COVID-19 restrictions, the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League has not been able to "test" interactions with other dogs.

Barks, er, meows, she is curious about cats. If they move slowly, she's good but wants to chase them if they bolt! Paws, she is more interested in squirrels and wants to chase them! She stops when told!

Chloe has had a bit of training. Barkingly, she is working on her "leash/heal," and "sit/down/stay" commands. She is learning very quickly. She heals when walking but will pull. She is very strong so she will need training.

Great Dane Dog Adoption

Creative: from The Dog's Paw!
Barks, as she gets more playful, Chloes doesn't recognize how big she is. Paws, she bumps and steps on her foster parents wanting to play rough. She will calm down when told.

Barkingly Miss Chloe will do best in a home with no mini-humans under age 10 or significantly older humans. Her energy levels and activity could injure someone if she knocked them down.

Chloe is a true love-bug! She loves her humans will want to lay down next to you and cuddle all day if you'd let her! She is smart too. She knows how to tell her humans when she wants to play, go potty, or want water.

To learn more about Chloe, Adoption Procedures, Adoption Requirements, applying to adopt Chloe. pawlease visit the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League's Adoption Guide

Woofs! Do you love Great Danes, but, for whatever reason, are not able to adopt? Please consider supporting Chloe financially. Donations will assist with her care.
