In Memory of Many, Memorial Day 2023

(C) 2023, from The Dog's Paw!

Woofs! Meows! Barks! Today we paw our paws full of thanks to the many men, women, and canines, who have diligently served in the United States Armed Forces and paid the ultimate sacrifice for freedoms.

Mom's side of our family has had humans serve in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines - for that we are thankful too!

Barks! Meows! Thank you for all you've done and for all that your families have sacrificed for the freedoms we have.

National Police Week, May 15-21, 2023

(C) 2023, from The Dog's Paw!

WOOFS! MEOWS! This week is National Police Week. A week designated under President John F. Kennedy to honor the men and women who risk their lives every day in the line of duty. The is about honor, gratitude, remembrance, servitude, and peer support.

Barkingly, it is a time for police officers to honor fallen colleagues, make sure their surviving families are supported, and remember their commitment to keeping communities safe.

Paws, humans can celebrate the week by showing love and gratitude to the policemen in their communities.

Since we aren't out in the community as often as our humans are, we are pawing a huge "THANK YOU!" to all the police officers in the universe for everything you do every single day!

Happy Mother's Day!

(C) 2023, from The Dog's Paw!

WOOFS! MEOWS! BARKS! We wish all the human, canine, and feline mothers a "HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! May your day be filled with blessings with your family and friends.

We are very thankful for our moms! They gave us life and taught us how to be good dogs and cats so we would find "Forever Homes!" with our pawsome humans. Thank you Mom!

Barkingly, meowingly too, we pawsitively absolutely love and are very thankful for our human mom. She provides us with a home, feeds and gives us water, comforts us when we are scared of those loud thunders and fireworks, and she cuddles and loves on us all the time just because she loves us so much! What more can a human mom do for her furry children!?

Friday's Friend! Cat Adoption! The Humane Society of Loudoun County

Cat Adoption

Meows! I pawsitively enjoy writing about my fine feline friends who need adoption. I wish they were all adopted so this wasn't necessary. Meows, my friends from The Humane Society of Loudoun County brought two handsome cats, almost as handsome as I am, who are looking for their "Forever Home" with humans to love who will love them too! Meet Marvin and Hercules!

(C) 2023, from The Dog's Paw!
Meows, these two fellas would love to be adopted together. They have become bonded buddies in their foster home, spending most of their time together. They are often found pawlaying together, in each other's company, and giving each other head bonks!

Purrs, Marvin is the most outgoing! He pawsitively loves hanging out in a cat bed on a dresser in his fosters room begging for attention. When he isn't there, he's hanging out in his cat tree being a goofball or on his cardboard scratcher bed. He's a pawsitively loveable fella.

Meow, Hercules is a big ole tabby tomcat with the pawsitively sweetest pawsonality! He loves attention and seems to love being brushed and getting tummy rubs!

Marvin and Hercules are sweet fella but will be shy at first in their new "Forever Home!" Paws, they will need an adopter who will give them time to get comfortable, recognize they are safe and loved and let them learn to trust their new humans on their own terms. They are bonded buddies and want to find a home together! Meows!

Purrs, they will do best in a home without younger mini-humans. The noise and activity level might be too much for them.

Meows, they have not met their foster mom's dogs but with proper introduction, they would pawssibly do fine.

Marvin and Hercules are between 2-4 years old, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on their vaccinations.

Friday's Friend! Dog Adoption, Lab Rescue

Chocolate Labrador Retriever Dog Adoption

Happy Friday! Woofs! My pawsome friend "Lab Lady" from Lab Rescue have brought by a handsome Chocolate Labrador Retriever who is looking for his "Forever Home!" with humans to love who will love him too. Meet 9-year-old Bean!

Chocolate Labrador Retriever Dog Adoption
Bean is looking for his "Forever Home!" in a rural or single-family house with no fence requirement. No E-Fence. Paws, he needs to be the only dog in the home.

Bean is a pawsome silly guy! He loves retrieving and is pawfully determined to get his ball back! He enjoys a victory retrieving session too- holding the ball and rolling around the grass! BARKS!!! Watch these videos he made Bean Retrieving and Rolling Around, Enjoying his Ball. He will pawlay all day! Barkingly, don't let his grey snout fool you.

Woofs, Bean enjoys going for walks and hikes. He is great on a leash with a slight prey drive. Barkingly, he prefers a quieter neighborhood so he can paw and sniff on walking adventures. Paws, he loves chew toys. Bark, don't worry, that's all he chews.

Bean is housebroken and can be left uncrated for hours. He would pawsitively love keeping you company while you work from home, napping in your office!

Woofs, Bean would be great for a family who wants an energetic, and sometimes pawlayful, Labrador Retriever. Barks, there are times when he is happy to lay beside you watching TV.

Bean's only request is that he is your one-and-only-pup-that-is in your home. He has no history with cats. Good with older mini-humans.

Cat Adoption

Happy Friday! What a fun week I have had. I hope you saw the post about celebrating Dad's 420th birthday. He got a good laugh out of it. They went to a concert last night and I got to enjoy peace and quiet except for a few annoying barks from Abby. I never know if she's warding something off or just flirting with the dog down the street! Meows! I hope you have some pawsome pawlans for the weekend. I know you'd have a pawsitively great one if you have a cat in your life! They make a humans life so pawsitively grand.

If not, my friend "Cat Lady" from PetConnect Rescue brought by a beautiful cat named Penelope who is looking for her "Forever Home!" with humans to love who will love her too!

Cat Adoption
Meows! Penelope is around 2 years old, a gorgeous silvery-grey, playful, purringly grand kitty who loves attention. She came to PetConnect Rescue as a young mom. Now, that her pawsome sweeties have all been adopted, she is enjoying her sweet-self, independence and pawlaytime.

Purringly, she is food motivated! Meows, you can win her heart with a Squeeze-up treat!

Penelope does not like to be held, however, she will cuddle up in your lap or beside you when you are watching TV.

Cat Adoption
Meows, she will do best in a quieter home with older mini-humans or just adults. She wouldn't mind being your one-and-only-pet-that-is! Purrs!

Happy 420th Birthday Dad!!!

(C) 2023, from The Dog's Paw!
(C) 2023, from The Dog's Paw!

Today, we paws to celebrate our Dad's 420th birthday! He is so excited as it is such a milestone in his life. He's never been that old before and will not ever be that young again.

We are thankful to Dad for his heart to adopt us dogs and cats from rescues instead of buying us at a pet store or somewhere. He has loved all of us, providing food, water, treats, and toys, taking us for walks (MEOWS! Except for us cats who do not stoop to the indignity of going for a walk), and hours and hours of playtime in the backyard and inside the house, especially on snowy or rainy days. We look forward to many more pawsome days with our human.

MEOWS! HISS! HISS! Noah and Abby, I think your numbers are off! I know Dad's old, and creaks when he walks, makes other weird noises too, and it takes him longer than anyone I know to get up from a chair or sofa, and walks slower than molasses moving in the winter, but I don't think he is four-hundred-twenty years old. Some days, he may act it, okay a lot of days he does, but humans don't live that long! I believe he is 60, which can be ancient and fossilized in and of itself! In dog or cat years, he might be 420!! Purrs!

Woof! Barks, oh, uh, well, happy 60th birthday Dad! While many humans moan and groan the turning of the 60-year-old milestone, Dad is celebrating it as a pawsome event in his life. After all, he has Mom, Samson, Abby, and me in his life! What more could a human pawssibly want?

We're BACK!! Did you Miss Us??

Woofs, meows, and pawlenty of paws for cheers because we are back with our pawsomely grand readers! We have seriously missed YOU! Each and every one of YOU!!!! While we were writing posts, they weren't going out to you by email. Our pawsome friend "Cat Lady" from PetConnect Rescue brought it to our attention.

We paw to you a bazillion apawlogies for the error with our email provider.  We had quite a few projects going on at the same time and, barks, there was one problem after another. Woofs, this was a separate issue that really didn't alert us to the problem until some time into it.

(C) 2023, Alison M. Wood
It took Dad a while to find someone to help him with all of the technology issues, but then he remembered Alison Wood, who he had worked with years ago. While he was closing his photography business, followed by working on a website he wanted to create, it was determined he needed someone to help him finish it. The new website is Wednesday's Words, which we will share more about later. He contacted Alison, who did a great job with the new site and had the pawsome skills to help us with this website. Meows! Barks.

We are barkingly and meowingly thankful for Alison M. Wood, who worked diligently to determine the issues with our email and solve it. We are happily using a new service that will deliver our posts to you in a timely manner. Woofs, this is great; it will keep Dad out of our hair!

Barkingly, we will be sharing stories about living with our humans, our "Friday's Friend!" posts featuring our fine furry friends needing "Forever Homes" with humans to love who will love them too, dog and cat cartoons, and other entertaining stories along the way.

We hope you continue to subscribe to our email, share posts with friends so they can subscribe, and comment on our posts! If you aren't a subscriber, pawlease become one by entering your email in the box on the left side of this post!
