Friday's Friend! Cat Adoption, Homeless Animals Rescue Team

"Tither"
(C) Homeless Animals Rescue Team
Tither is 2-year-old cat from Homeless Animals Rescue Team!  He is not dog-friendly but is with cats and mini-humans!  WOOF! er, MEOW!

Meow, Tither's tail was apparently damaged somehow but that doesn't affect his handsome good looks at all.  He is still a little upset at loosing his tail and being in the cone of shame for awhile but he's anxious to find his "Forever Home!"

Tither is very sweet with a laid-back pawsome personality.  Purr, he is looking for a human who would give him tons of lovin's all the time.

Do you have questions about Tither?  Please contact Kelly!

If you would like to apply to adopt Tither, please complete the Homeless Animals Rescue Team Cat Adoption Application!

Tilda is a happy young girl who is all about cuddles!  There is nothing better than curling up with this pawsome purrster in your lap or on your shoulder or on your chest or on your legs, other than curling up with me! Meows! She is the pawfect fit for cuddling and is a purr machine!

Tilda is super playful too- she's loves darting around chasing the catnip mice.  Meows, one of her pawsome favorite things to do is watch"Cat TV" from any window of your home.

Meows, she is good with mini-humans!

A note from PetConnect Rescue: The adoption fee for this kitty is $135, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. Cats adopted through PetConnect Rescue must be indoor only, and may not be declawed (unless already declawed at the time of rescue).

The first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a Veterinarian check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important so they will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered and examined annually by your vet.

If you would like to learn more about cat adoption, please visit the PetConnect Rescue Adoption Guide.

If you would like to apply to adopt Tilda, please complete the PetConnect Rescue Cat Adoption Application!  Once it's submitted, one of their Adoption Coordinators will contact you.

Maybe you aren't able to adopt Tilda but would LOVE to help with the expenses PetConnect Rescue has while caring for her.  If so, please visit Sponsor Tilda! Whatever funds aren't used for Tilda's care will be used to care for another cat!

Hazel knows some basic commands "sit," "stay," and "come."  She is crate trained too!    Since she is so young, she will need a human who will help her learn proper manners. Hazel is looking forward to the added training too!  BARKS!!!!!

Hazel is very energetic and enjoys being outside, running, jogging, and hiking, so humans who are couch potatoes may want to pass on this precious girl.  She wants a yard where she can run and play!

She does enjoy some downtime and is a world-class first-class pawsome snuggler!  WOOF!

Hazel is pawsome with dogs, cats, and older mini-humans. She would make a pawfect addition to nearly any active family! WOOF!!!

Dog Adoption
"Chloe"

WOOF!! My human had the pawsome privilege to photograph and meet Chloe a few days ago. He had the best time photographing her as she is playful and kept trying to steal the toy my human brought to keep her attention for her glamour shot!  WOOF!!!

Chloe is black Great Dane around 4 years old.  She is learning the pawsomeness of living with humans inside, instead outside and that not all humans are horrible!  Barkingly, she is looking to be the only dog in the home and no cats!

"Chloe"
(C) Allen Pearson. All Rights Reserved
A very loving and affectionate girl, she loves humans, food, and going for car rides, but baths, not so much!  WOOF!!!! My kinda girl!! WOOF!!

Chloe is house and crate trained, uses a doggie door, and has not destroyed or chewed up anything in the house even while she has free run of it for hours with another Dane!

At night, she sleeps in her crate but could possibly live without it!  WOOF!! BARK!!

Chloe doesn't like walking with a gentle leader but needs it. She knows a few commands and has new ones very quick!

Chloe has never had any formal training so she will have a mandatory training requirement with her adoption.

Looking for a pawsome Great Dane? Chloe might be the one for you!

Buy a Bag, Give a Meal! Petsmart Charities

(C) PetSmart®

BARKS!! Every week, my human and I write posts about dog and cats needing "Forever Homes" titled "Friday's Friend." Barkingly, we photograph for local rescues to provide awesome images which they can use in their publications and websites to help the dogs and cats get adopted too.

Why? I know, first hand, what its like to be a stray walking the woods, the trails, the roads and the highways in search of my next meal and a place to rest.  My human knows, first hand, the blessings of dogs and having adopted one-incredibly-pawfect-dog which made his, and Moms, life so pawsome!

When I read about PetSmart's® "Buy a Bag, Give a Meal" donation program, I couldn't let another bark or woof go by without letting you know about it.

Here's the paw, "When you purchase a bag of dry dog or cat food at a PetSmart® store, PetSmart.com or PetSmart.ca between March 1 and December 31, 2017, PetSmart will donate a meal (5oz dog food, 1.5oz cat food) to PetSmart Charities® or PetSmart Charities™ of Canada to help feed a dog or cat in need."

PetSmart Charities will distribute the meal donations to various pet shelters, animal welfare organizations, food banks or other similar organizations that provide food, shelter and/or other assistance to pets in need.

PetSmart hopes to donate 60,000,000 meals or more! The goal is based on past sales for a similar time period. There is no guaranteed amount, as actual donations will be based on sales.

The allocation of food donations to beneficiary organizations will be based on PetSmart Charities’ evaluation of the needs among potential recipients, the ability of potential recipients to receive, handle and distribute the food donations, and where the donated meals can be most effectively delivered (“Review Process”).
"BARK!!!!!Looking for a 'Forever Home"'
(C) Allen Pearson, All Rights Reserved

It is anticipated that the allocation of food donations will be approximately 50% for dogs and 50% for cats. However, the exact allocation of meals between dogs and cats may be impacted by availability and PetSmart Charities’ Review Process.

It is anticipated that each qualifying purchase in the U.S. will generate a meal donation to PetSmart Charities, Inc. (U.S.), and each qualifying purchase in Canada will generate a meal donation to PetSmart Charities of Canada. It is anticipated that each charity will distribute the donated meals to organizations within its respective country. The exact allocation of meals donated, however, may be impacted by the Review Process

A "meal" is defined as 5 oz. of dog food for a dog or 1.5 oz. of cat food for a cat based on the daily maintenance energy requirements for a typical adult pet (40 lb dog or 10 lb cat) in good health that is fed twice daily. Ounces as used for this definition refers to ounces of weight, rather than ounces of volume.

No portion of your purchase is tax deductible. All donations are made solely by PetSmart. PetSmart Charities, Inc. and PetSmart Charities of Canada are separate nonprofit animal welfare organizations whose collective mission is to find lifelong, loving homes for all pets by supporting programs and thought leadership that bring people and pets together. PetSmart Charities is a registered 501(c)(3) organization and PetSmart Charities of Canada is an independent, registered charity, both of which are separate entities from PetSmart Inc.

Tornado Watches and Tornado Warnings

’8
"Tornado with Dust and Debri Cloud"
(C) Flickr Creative Commons, NOAA Photo Library

WOOF!! BARK!  Pawsingly, after an interesting day of whacky weather adventures, I thought it impawtant to mention a few key factors about tornadoes that I've heard some humans question.  arf!

Not too long back, our day was not a fun weather day at all, seems we've had too many of those lately.  WOOF!!  I sensed the storm coming so I waited with my human. Kept him company, you know!

The day started out simple enough: more rain.  Continuing to rain from a storm which came in the day before.  In the afternoon though, the weather began to turn serious and fast.

Barkingly pawsome is some training and exploring that my humans took me on when we first moved to our house! Dad showed me the basement and whenever he works in his studio down there, he takes me with him.  Mom takes me too- but she doesn't go down there as much as Dad.

Several months later, the training and exploring turned out to be impawtent in a matter of a few minutes as the weather turned violent.

A Tornado Watch was issued for our area about 3 p.m. or so.  These alerts always get Dad's attention -like it's an urgent situation.  And, he says "It's urgent to know about it and what it means!"

"A Tornado Watch is to alert us that conditions are favorable for a tornado," Dad goes on, "it doesn't mean one has been spotted or that a tornado is imminent, but, that severe weather conditions, such as severe thunderstorms, which could produce tornadoes are possible.  When you hear about a "Tornado Watch," you should be prepared   Also, it is important to keep an eye on the weather and listen to the radio or TV for further news!"

Should a tornado be spotted, a "Tornado Warning" will be issued which means to take cover immediately.  Get to the lowest room in your home and hunker down until the "Tornado Warning" is over.

Dad has a battery operated radio, an extra set or two of batteries, a scanner radio which receives the weather frequency alerts and extra batteries and a small container of my treats and a chew toy for me in the basement for this kind of emergency.  He takes his cell phone and his tablet with him -just in case we get bored waiting for the storm to pass.

A list of local emergency phone numbers should be kept close by or at hand as a preparation measure.   These should include the local Emergency Animal Hospital, the Veterinarian, and the First Responders for humans in your area- though most times those can be reached by dialing 9-1-1.

Another consideration, should you have to evacuate your home, does the local emergency shelter allow dogs and cats?  Consider placing a sign in the window by the front door or on the screen door which alerts First Responders to you having a dog.
