Happy Mother's Day 2012

I would like to wish all the moms in the universe, dog or cat or human, a very Happy Mother's Day.

I am dedicating this video produced by my friend "Big Bruno" at PetConnect Rescue to my grandmothers.  One of my grandmother's passed away before I had the opportunity to get to know her.  From what my humans have told me, she loved dogs and would have enjoyed this video.   My other grandmother pets me every time she comes over- makes me feel loved and part of the family.  I love it when she visits me!!

Friday's Friend- Two Cats

Happy Friday to you!!! I look so forward to this day- especially toward the evening when my humans come home from work- Dad looks at me and smiles!  I know what that means- it's our time to do stuff!!

I want to introduce to you Daisy & Gavin!!  First, did you know that Black & White cats are called “tuxedo” cats? My friend "The Cat Lady" told me that, and these two kittens are dressed in their tuxedo finest waiting for someplace to go! Don't they look spiffy??!  Daisy & Gavin were rescued from a southern shelter and though they aren't related they are best buddies! Daisy is a few weeks older than Gavin but they play and wrestle together in their foster home. Their playful nature and sweet dispositions keep their foster family laughing. Both are affectionate, but Daisy loves to give kisses! Friday's Friend - Meet Jackson the Dog

Happy Friday again!!   I have another friend I would like to introduce to you today.

Meet Jackson!!! Human after human who meet Jackson at the rural SPCA said that if they were to take another dog, he'd be the one!!  Jackson is a 2 yr old Boxer/Mastiff mix who combines the absolute best qualities of both of these gentle breeds, but in a smaller package. Underweight now, he should probably weigh around 60 lbs when he gains some needed pounds. The sweetest boy, Jackson waits quietly for attention to come his way, and is so grateful for some love and a nice long walk. He's calm, gentle, affectionate, and loves all people, children, and other dogs. We’re also told he is good with cats. Jackson is microchipped, neutered, heartworm negative and up-to-date on shots. Pet Fiesta Trip

What a fun week I've had!!  Been going through images my human took at last weekend's Pet Fiesta trying to select a few to share with you.

I had a great day. It was fun spending several hours with my humans looking at the various vendors stuff, taking a walk around the trails, meeting people working for the animal rescue groups, watching the dancers, meeting other dogs and their humans, and watching the dog shows (fashion, tricks, and an eating contest).  

The most fun was being with my human for six hours while he was photographing.  We both enjoy doing things together- I can tell because of the big smile on his face!!

"Wanna be my Forever Friend and Home," asks May.

Hello!! For my "Friday's Friend" this week, I'd like you to meet May! I went last weekend and helped my human to photograph and spent a few minutes getting to know her so I could tell you.....

Just look at that face! May is a 6-yr old, 12 lb. Terrier mix who looks like she should be answering a Hollywood casting call!  May is her foster dad’s shadow; she loves cuddling, snuggling, and spooning. She likes to play, but can hang out on a chair or the bed for hours on end. May doesn’t like to share her person with other animals, but she goes to work with her foster dad in his orthodontic practice, and she does well with all the kids and activity in the office. Pet Fiesta! May 5, 2012, Reston, VA

I hope to see you at the Pet Fiesta! event this weekend in Reston, VA, at the Reston Town Center.   This is my first time to go so I don't know what to expect but reading the website, www.petfiesta.org, it looks to be an exciting day.

You can take your human on a walk around the Town Center which helps to raise money for homeless animals, check out some of the local businesses, show your human the latest in pet products- maybe some of the ones you've read about in Dog Fancy, enjoy onstage entertainment, face painting and caricature artists.  Bring the children humans with you too!

Look for us- my human will be photographing the event probably dressed in shorts, T-shirt with a camera around his neck.  Please don't laugh at him, it's embarrassing enough to see him in shorts without having other dogs come up to us and start laughing.... you can recognize me because I am truly a handsome shiny black dog- so how can you miss me?!?
