"Woof! Happy Winter Solstice!"
"Meow! What's a Winter Solstice Noah?"
"Barks, it is the astronomical first day of winter and the shortest day of the year- Dad's least favorite day of the year, pawingly, one of his kinda-sorta-favorite days!"
"HISS! What? Dad what?"
"Woof, Dad doesn't like the winter because of the snow and ice so he, naturally, doesn't like the first day of winter. Barkingly, since it is the shortest day of the year it means the following days will only get longer until we reach the first day of summer which is the longest day of the year. So he likes the days getting longer....woof... they will start getting warmer long about March or April."
"Purrs, that makes sense to me. I knew Dad and I had a few things in common. I like longer days too- so I can watch the birds at the feeders for as long as I can watch them! Purr.........."
"Barks, the first day of Winter usually means snow, ice, and all those fun winter-weather storms will soon follow. The first winter after I got adopted, I had NEVER seen snow or ice. It freaked me out to see this white stuff falling from the sky. Dad noticed and pet me for a while then I went out to play in it. WOOF! Ever since then, I love it."
"Meows! The weather never really changes in Dad's sunroom studio! For that I am thankful!"
