Police Week

"WOOF! WOOF! WOOF! MEOW! MEOW! MEOW! Samson and I are barking huge and loud 'THANK YOU's' to all the humans who serve our community in the role of law enforcement! Barks, when I sniffed a scent and accidentally wandered away from home, it was a Fairfax County Police Officer who assisted me in getting home. My humans were never so embarrassed as when a Police car pulled into the driveway, I got out escorted by a Police Officer. BARKS! They were very thankful for his work! In Prince William County, where I live now, I haven't had an oppawtunity to meet a Police Officer in pawson, but have waved a few paws at them while I'm having my human drive me around town or I am walking him! WOOF!"

"MEOWS, in 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation designating May 15 as "Peace Officers Memorial Day." The week in which it falls is "Police Week." Tens of thousands of law enforcement from all over the universe come to Washington, D.C. to participate in events honoring those who paid the ultimate sacrifice."

"Barkingly, the Memorial Service began in 1982 at Senate Park with approximately 120 survivors and supporters of law enforcement. Woof, decades later, National Police Week grew to a series of events which attracts thousands of survivors and law enforcement officers to Washington, D.C. every year. One of the events each year at National Police Week is the Candlelight Vigil.

WOOF! WOOF! MEOW! MEOW! We salute, woof, meow, paw, honor, and say 'THANK YOU' for all you do all day every day to keep us safe in every way! Thank you to all the families who have supported their work! In honor of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, we share this candle!"
