National Black Dog Day!

"My Handsome-Self Noah!"
(C) Allen Pearson
WOOF! Today is National Black Dog Day! It's a day to bring attention to the plight of the handsome, debonair, sweet, cute, adorable, and pawsome black dogs like me who often end up without humans to love or "Forever Homes" simply because they are black dogs. It's called "Black Dog Syndrome."

"Black Dog Syndrome" is when black dogs get overlooked at shelters and rescues simply because they have black fur. Some humans think they look mean, angry, or dangerous when they actually may not be at all. Like me, I'm only mean when I really have to be! WOOF! WOOF! Some black dogs do not have good photos with their adoption profiles which cause humans to overlook them. These dogs are overlooked for adoption in favor of the lighter-colored dogs. Paws, black dogs are more likely to be killed in shelters regardless of their breed. WOOF!

Are you looking to adopt a dog? Take a second look, maybe even a third or fourth, at the black dogs in the shelters and rescues. Help to break the stereotype of black dogs and adopt a handsome fella like me. WOOF!
