Be Kind to Animals Week, May 5- May 11, 2013

A great topic to write about because it’s important for humans to remember to be kind to animals!!  Here’s what I think you should do this week to show kindness to animals.

The first thing you should do is, if you have a dog or cat, surprise then with breakfast in bed- be sure to serve only the best food, no coffee as it is dangerous for dogs so a good dose of water would be great!!  Personally, I love a fresh bowl of water and Blue Buffalo Duck.  Nothing better to start the day!

The next thing you need to do is take them for a nice long walk or have play time with them, depending on your pet.  My human will have to take me on a really long walk for me to meet the criteria of being kind to me!  RUFF!!!!! We’ll probably end up wandering some trails this coming weekend!

And, if you don’t have your own dog or cat, other way to celebrate the week:

  • Visit your local rescue organization or shelter and adopt a new pet.
  • If you are not able to adopt, volunteer at a local rescue organization or shelter and take a dog for a walk.
  • Find out what kind(s) of food(s) a local rescue organization or shelter feeds their dogs and cats and buy some for them at your local pet store for their use.
  • Can your local rescue organization or shelter use dog beds, blankets, cat houses, cat toys or any other items to entertain their animals while waiting for their “Forever Home?”  Find out and look around your house for the items or visit a pet store.
  • Help your neighbor care for their animal.  Is there a night or morning that is particularly rough for them to walk their dog?  Mondays seem to be bad for my human but I won’t go there!  Find out if they could use some help on occasion.
  • And, should you happen to see animal abuse, be sure to report it to your local authorities.  Be sure to research where to make these reports ahead of time.  When I live, my human would call the police non-emergency number.
I’m sure if you thought about it for a few seconds, you could come up with many ways to “Be Kind to Animals” this week and every week!
