Friday's Friend: Dog Adoption, Operation Paws for Homes

WOOF!! Happy Friday- hope you have some great weekend plans! My human and I will have fun doing some yard work- I will dig holes, hopefully where he wants, WOOF!, and he'll plant!  hee hee!

My friend "Miss J" from Operation Paws for Homes came by this week with a sweet lady who has traveled from the other side of the universe- I wonder how she didn't fall off if she was on the other side- to meet you.  This is Moma Bear Nowzad!  Isn't she just BEAUTIFUL!  WOOF!

An extremely affectionate 2-5 year old dog from Iraq who came to Operation Paws for Homes to find a "Forever Home!"

Moma Bear is a low maintenance, laid back, low key, sweet, friendly to humans and most dogs, did I mention BEAUTIFUL, she is just an pawingly pawfect love!

Iraq?  You may be thinking- or, at least I was and am still wondering how she held on- grabbed a tree maybe- yes, she arrived to Operation Paws for Homes from the Nowzad Dog Program where they rescued her in Iraq.  arf?

Let me share this from "Miss J" with you-  "The information from the Nowzad team about Moma Bear really helps to explain her name. The team was working to help dogs and cats at a local university where the administration was trying to eradicate dogs. Moma and Sultan (then pregnant) entered the campus and immediately became at risk. Nowzad worked with the university and pleaded for an opportunity to try and find homes for the dogs. When the Nowzad team was working to help protect an injured female from a pack of male dogs, Moma Bear stepped up to help protect her friend as well as the Nowzad volunteers. She would put herself between a pack of street dogs in order to protect the Nowzad volunteers. She was immediately loyal to the humans who had befriended her. That loyalty is one of her most incredibly traits! She loves everyone she meets and is content with some pets on the head or hanging out with her humans.

We absolutely agree with the assessment of the Nowzad team who described her as loyal, friendly, intelligent and a loving dog. After her long trip to the US - she is ready to start the next chapter of her life in a forever home where she will make a wonderful addition!"  Pawmazing!  WOOF!

As she is an international dog, Operation Paws for Homes is submitting a best guess for her breed. Many of the breed options from overseas are not available for us here in the US data systems. Moma Bear's gorgeous self appears to have some Hound, Sulaki, Shepherd, Collie or similar breeds mixed in. WOOF!!

Moma Bear is up to date with shots, spayed, and fostered in Alexandria, VA. She is looking for her forever home and will make a wonderful addition to someone's home!
