Tribute to Brad Anderson, Creator of "Marmaduke"

Today, I want to honor, send a 4 Paws Salute to Brad Anderson creator of "Marmaduke," the comic strip with the huge Great Dane. He passed away at the age of 91, at a hospital in The Woodlands, Texas, on August 30, 2015.

Born in 1924, Mr. Anderson's interest in cartooning goes back to his early childhood, when he drew popular cartoon characters to amuse himself!” according to his biography on the Universal Uclick website.

He served in the Navy during World War II before graduating from Syracuse University and did freelance work for magazines, including the Saturday Evening Post, before creating “Marmaduke” in 1954.

Since 2003, Mr. Anderson's son Paul became a full time "Marmaduke" creator.  Pawsingly, he grew up in the studio, read the comic, and often contributed content to his father. WOOF!!  Brad Anderson remained actively involved with "Marmaduke" and it's production.

The cartoon was one of my human's favorites! My human has always loved big dogs, so the funny. crazy antics of the mischievous, loving Great Dane always got my human's attention when it was published in a newspaper or one of the comic books. Always good clean fun adventures of a dog living with his human and he would take great care of them! WOOOF!

For some reason, not sure why, but my human doesn't want me to read "Marmaduke!" He's hidden his comic books and anything else he finds- he keeps away! WOOF!! Maybe he doesn't want me to get ideas? arf?!

Our sympathies, love and prayers to the family of Brad Anderson-
