Operation Paws for Homes Rescue Partners in Turks & Caicos Hit Hard by Hurricane Irma

Help Project Hurricane!

WOOF!! If you have followed my weekly column, “Friday’s Friend!” where I feature dogs and cats who need humans, to love and “Forever Homes,” you’re familiar with the Potcake dogs. These dogs come to the United States to find humans to love through an Operation Paws for Homes. Barkingly, Hurricane Irma battered and destroyed many buildings on the Turks and Caicos Islands. The islands took a direct hit from the Category 5 storm. Now, what was a paradise, resembles a war zone.

Yet, the pawsome volunteers and supporters of the Turks and Caicos SPCA (TCSPCA), remain determined to help as many of the island dogs as possible. Here is a bit of their story-
"Potcake Kirby"

“The TCSPCA relies heavily on a partnership with an island boarding facility called Pampered Pets. Many times when Potcakes are found and/or rescued, they go to Pampered Pets to receive care, food, and a cozy bed while awaiting possible adoption or travel stateside. Pampered Pets donates the boarding space and is a critical partner that enables the TCSPCA to carry out their lifesaving work. Paws, it's devastating to see the photos of destruction. BARKS! It is truly a blessing everyone survived, including the animals!

Pampered Pets has been a lifeline for Potcakes and efforts are starting to rebuild the facility, but more help is needed."
Operation Paws for Homes has been partnering with TCSPCA and Pampered Pets for years, bringing Potcakes stateside for adoption. Barkingly, now they are asking all of us to help them to rebuild.

Many humans who have visited the Turks and Caicos have said how beautiful the islands are and have seen these dogs wondering around looking for food trying to take of themselves/
